Reds: is they a unit list up? I'd like to see what each (namely British) force has.
Also, multiplayer wise. What tactics are commonly used? Is it best having one player dedicated to support while the other has a more feet on the ground approach? Iv watched a few videos and hope to have PC fixed tomorrow!

Soap, usually everyone focuses on their own area of the map, and coordinates as needed. I tend to run logistics and air cover for people in addition to defense and attack on my part of the frontlines. As for unit lists, there are over 800 units total, so I don't think they're all in one place. I can give you a list later though of UK ones. If you have a question about a specific unit, I can answer it now, though.

Namely what aircraft do the UK forces have (sorry, I'm ex RAF and can't help myself!). I'm sure iv seen a video clip with the Phantom, but was wondering if the Tornado F1 / GR1 and any of the Harrier variants are available. Finally. Would VTOL aircraft be treated the same as helicopters, or just the same as other aircraft - ie deployed off screen.
Thanks Reds

The RAF has slim pickings. Mostly Harrier (Sea, original flavor) and Tornados (Gr.1 AVDs), some Jaguars too. No phantoms, but that may change. VTOLs don't hover, sadly, so they deploy from offscreen.

That's a shame about the VTOL. The Harrier is losing its strategical advantage there.

Reds and I will usually set up combined offensives where we can (and remember), we try and co-ordinate SEAD, CAS, artillery, counterbattery, mutual reconnaissance/spotting.

Krieger, shoot me a friend request on Steam or on ALB. RedsandRoyals in both cases. Also, I talked a couple people in the global chat into a 3v3 air battle. Here's the initial charge. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=143367262And lastly, then implemented 10v10 games recently, and I just tried it out. Holy. Hell. It's fun. Reds

One question. Will i be worse off for only playing once a week? Like WoT cause i don't have time to level up i suck... Or does it not matter ala counter strike, total war etc

@ad: Technically, you gain levels by playing, and when you gain a level, you get command stars to unlock units.
The good news is that for the Beta, everything is unlocked. That won't be true in the main game, but you can also earn stars in single player, so if you don't have a lot of time to play, you can play single player until you're comfortable with your unlocks, then jump into multi.

can't stop thinking about how awesome this game looks....
just read this:
"Despite appearances, it’s probably better to approach AirLand Battle as a board game. Board games, and wargames in particular, don’t afford you the legions of disposable armies that you see in a standard real-time strategy game."

Tread, Ad, what are your steam names? Hit me up as RedsandRoyals when you do grab it, and I can teach you the basics of the game.
Also, I'd like to mention that Eugen is great about supporting the game. They put out a total of four free DLC packs that added AI, maps, and a new single player mission set for the previous game in the series. ALB will come with AI in the full release, but I can't wait to see what they put out in DLCs this time around.

It's taken three days, error after error, exhausting the computing mind of Reds and myself, update after update, hours of downloading, installing, uninstalling, re-downloading, reinstalling, hours of google searching, upgrade of RAM, and a new graphics card.
And now, the momentus occasion is here. The citizens can rejoice for the dragon is dead!
Wargame: AirLand Battle finally works!

Sorry for double post, however, this is important.
Last night I had a talk through game with Reds. Even though we didn't have an enemy, it was still incredable. The set up is much like warhammer. You have a set number of points, and you build your army lost from that. Then join a game and again much like warhammer, you set up your forces and keep some back in reserve. Game starts and you move out. What took me twenty minutes, should have taken about a minute!
The game feels really complicated, but after a few games iv been assured by Reds it becomes natural.
Can't wait to get into a proper fight tonight!

Those types of rts rule, I'm madly in love with total war series which sounds incredibly similar

IMO, the main difference I can see between total war and AirLand battle is the scale. The gaming area is much larger for ALB. Total war is "this the the battlefield - fight", where as ALB looks like it will be several small battles across the large area.
Also, they is a lot more to think about with picking units. Are your troops anti tank? Anti air? In jeep, armour or helicopter? Should I have high numbers low skill, low numbers high skill?...
Almost blew my mind last night lol
