I've heard many great things about the Vendetta and I plan on using two. I really like the idea of the Vulture Gunship.
165 - Vulture - Two Multiple Rocket Pods, 6 Hunter Killer Missiles
This is how I would take it... First off, I don't have access to the rulebook right now (didn't bring it with me to college), I can shoot multiple HK Missiles per turn right? Otherwise having 6 would be quite a waste.
I see this 165pt Flyer using its "Strafing Run" to pound infantry on the ground with the rockets. 2 Large Blast templates that cause pinning and I believe are Twin Linked. And 2 or 3 of the other turns, shooting off a few missiles at an enemy flyer or ground vehicle.
How does this idea sound? Has anyone used something similar or have any experience with the Vulture?

The MRPs aren't twin linked, you just get two pie plates. Which in itself is a pretty decent deal. But honestly, the way to go is pick one role for it and do it well. Focus on anti-infantry, or anti-tank/flyer. The twin-linked Punisher cannon seems to be popular for anti-infantry, and if you've got two Vendettas (plus presumably accompanying anti-tank in your ground forces) then you've probably got your AT covered. The Punisher is nice because even though it's got a nil AP value, 20 TL S5 shots will *shred* just about any infantry, transports, or even most monstrous creatures on the board. Even a mech list is going to have more infantry than not, and most races' basic transports don't sport anything higher than AV 10 or 11, so anything in the S5-7 range will take them down. Honestly, that gun should be able to decimate one infantry squad per turn, simply through sheer volume of fire.
If you do feel the need for more AT, by all means, take those HK missiles, but rather than the MRPs, I'd take the TL Missile Launchers or Lascannon. Remember that while you can shoot up to three weapons at full BS on a flyer per turn, you can only fire two missiles, and if you're setting out to be a tank hunter, you want something that can pick up that last shot. My vote for an AT role would be the TL Lascannon and HK Missiles.

Doesn't the Strafing Run special rule give you pinning and Twin Linked when attack ground troops (minus skimmers and jetbikes)?
I did know the limit to missiles was 2 per turn... I was hoping to send 3 out for 2 turns and spend the rest of the time dropping pie plates on infantry.
The Gatling Cannon is great on the Vulture, but as its only weapon I'm afraid it might be boring. But you think this is the best way to go with it?

It doesn't make the shots TL, it just increases the models BS by 1. And gives it pinning.
You can drop the pie plates, but as I said, it's best to pick one role and specialize in it. Otherwise you end up with too many targets to prioritize, and it won't fulfill either role terribly well.

What about:
125 - Vulture - Heavy Bolter, 2 Multiple Rocket Pods, 2 Hellstrike Missiles.
This will allow the Vulture to gun down infantry with a Heavy Bolter and 2 pie plates at BS4. And the ability to blast some stronger blasts instead of the rocket pods.
It is solely anti-infantry, including heavy infantry. Not Termies though.

Punisher Cannons all the way. They only downside to them is you can't hit certain vehicles front armor. However, with vector dancer you have increased chance for a shot at the soft side. Generally, any AV 11 will be glanced to death. AV 10 will be turned into swiss cheese. Most of the more dangerous transports won't stand a chance.
If you need something stronger that is what the vendetta is for.

Hmm... I think that is the way to go.
Twin Linked Gatling Cannon with BS4 (Strafing Run) will hit 17.68 times at S5. That will put anything in a world of hurt. No way would the rocket pods and heavy bolter get 17 guys nor would they be as damaging.
