Apologies if this is an inappropriate post for the forum, but I've recently built a baneblade and wish to start fielding it in games. What sort of points is it either fair or acceptable to include it in a game? Since its obviously worth more than a shelf sitter.

think the base cost is 500 points but I can't find the super-heavies PDF on the GWS site any more. But as it's a super heavy it's not game legal outside of apoc or games with specific rules allowing them. I guess if your oponent is ok with you fielding one then you can, but will still need the high cap to have it and the FOC units.

Yeah, it's 500, with various extras along the way. So it's basically up to what my opponent will allow then? So you could have one in a 2000 point game then, even if that may not be wise...

The thing is in the imperial Armour updates now, not as its own pdf sadly. So you know.

Is it really dumb to have one in a 500pt game? Hehe

I do believe that a Baneblade can be used in "regular" games that use the Spearhead expansion rules that were put out a while ago in White Dwarf. Of course, that was also for 5th edition and we're now in 6th...

I can't remember where the rules are but the was an option in a book where you could run 3 of them as your entire force verses I think 3000 pts of your opponents army. Very fun for planned games with friends, you could do a lot with this theme for fun.

That was in the battle missions expansion book. I think it was 3 baneblades against a 1.5k force, and they had to move off the opposite board edge to win. Looked fun but I never got round to playing it.

So this is pretty un-official but it's the only way it works. In Apoc and IA Apoc it says that 1-3 of (x) super heavy can be taken as a war machine detachment for an IG army. If that's the case it says that you can take a second detachment at 2000pnts in the main rule book so I would say you can only take a baneblade in 2000pnts or higher games. Although I would check with your opponent before hand to keep up with being a good sport. Again this isn't an official ruling but it would seem that this is the best case scenario if you want to play it in a standard game.

Thank you all kindly for your answers, I plan on using it in a 2000 point game this weekend against 1000 of CSM by one of my friends with another one playing 1000 of demons A two on one battle, first ever time doing that and first time using a super heavy!
