So my foam cutting ability with a hot wire sucks... I've given it in and bought tons of foamcore, the thing is since its gonna be flat and made of papey stuff would it make sense to print off brickwork and glee it on the walls? With good quality paper i mean...and my printer is good.
What other ways can you make a rough effect on a smooth surface?

.. and glee it on the walls? .. Please, melt them down and use them then 14 year old girls will no longer quiz me about if I like the show or not Try textured spray paint? I used some one that I got from an art shop, it was pretty good, and it'd be a quick way of painting too. GW used to make some, and it was pretty good. Unfortunately they stopped, as I imagine it wasn't a best seller.

You can also try making your own textured paint--just mix sand in with paint. Although you'll have to stir it up frequently. The other thing you could try is to coat the surface with PVA glue and then sprinkle sand over it...

I'll do some testers and see what their like...I'm going to cut some small bits up to see what effect different glues have as I'm not sure how I'm going to fasten the pieces together yet...so I'll do this with those...might even put some pics up for a broader opinion.

The outer most layer (1mm) of card is glossy and hard. It is not difficult to remove it and get to the second layer of card who is more textured.

I'm keeping it intact for strength. .. I've just coated it in thick pva with heavy brush strokes which should give it texture I hope

It's not technically foam core but I don't remember its name and it's nearly the same only stronger
