So I just saw this Kickstarter for magnetic gaming tables ( ) and it got me thinking. This idea is fantastic but limited, if I want to play a game on a urban battlefield I have to buy another set of tiles. Especially when I've already made a made two tables, what if I wanted to do a trench board, I'd need to buy more. This got me thinking, what if I magnetize the table underneath my board? All I would need to do is find a high power magnet capable of pulling through an inch of two of foam (more on the hills) that can be bought as a sheet. So I come to you guys asking if you know of any magnets capable of this? Where I could get them from? And how much it would cost me? Foster

Use sheet steel and rare earth magnets?

But will small magnets be powerful enough to go through the styrene?

Hmmmm...... I'm no expert. I'm not going to lie I just think it would be improbable/crazily expensive to get 6'x4' magnetic sheet. Flock using iron filings?

I'll have a think about it, although I may have to sell my gaming table so it may be irrelevant.

Yeah, but we're moving soon and may not have room for it.

That's my first condition of moving house next (seen as the loft here has been over run by junk). I, being the man of the house, should have room for at least one 6ft x 4ft gaming table.

I'm hoping to have room, although if we manage to get somewhere with a garage then I plan on getting myself a new project car.

Project car? Do you just want to give me your money instead of bleeding it all out on a car?

Erm no you're ok. I've always had a car to play with except for the last 3 years as we had no where to put it. I tend to get something cheap fix it up and sell it on.

Hmmmm...... I'm no expert. I'm not going to lie I just think it would be improbable/crazily expensive to get 6'x4' magnetic sheet. nah... the print company i work for regularly orders B1 sized magnetic sheeting that works out to be about £3 per sheet... roughly 6 would be needed for a 6'' x 4'' board... although id admit the magnetic'ness of it really only works at contact to 5mm or so... so not really that great. kind of a pointless idea anyway i dont see the need to magnetise your board and scenery. unless you play on a boat. or an aeroplane.

This idea has been thrown out of the window anyway. I've decided to completely rethink my gaming table since we will be moving soon and may not have space for me to have my own gaming room.
