If a squad of conscripts is in close combat at the beginning of a turn and you chose to use 'Send in the next wave' to remove the squad does the other player get a consolidation move?
I thought I read somewhere (FAQ?) that the other player doesn't get a consolidation move.
Anybody have a definitive answer?
Thanks

I believe that they are not allowed a consolidation move. The conscripts are removed at the beginning of the turn, not in the assault phase. So there would be no assault results or wound calculations.
I do like removing conscripts and then carpet bombing the grouped up enemy with ordnance fire. In fact, I am thinking about running conscripts again to shield my demolishers as they close.

Thanks Trick -- That was my interpretation of the rules.
Yesterday -- I had a conscript squad (50) in close combat assault with 3 groups of Eldar witches. Out in the open - no cover. Eldar player took me down to about 20 conscripts and the end of assault. I had a Lord Commissar in the group and also had Chenkov near enough to give Stubborn.
At the top of my turn I pulled the conscript squad off the table and then open fired with a bunch of template weapons and just annihilated his 3 squads. Didn't make him very happy.

Did you remove your Lord Commissar too? As he is part of the unit, he also dies but can't respawn as he is not a conscript. I find it better to keep him in a squad behind the conscripts, so that his 6" bubble affects them. He works in Chenkov's squad, or in a 20+ man blob you need to buy anyway, using the conscripts as cover.
I have been trying to find the right number of conscripts to use in a single unit. 50 seems unwieldy to me, whereas 20 can be a bit fragile sometimes. I am going to try 30 next time, if I can find where to cut the points that I need from.

I did have the LC removed and didn't respawn. We were running out of time in the game so I didn't worry too much about him.
We were basically playing a 2000 pt game with 4 players (each player with 1000 pts). I teamed with a Necron player (he was learning 40k and so we ran pretty slow).
Wasn't a real serious game (we lost to an Eldar & Chaos Marine team). My Necron player did better than me.
I just basically wanted to see how a 50 man conscript did. Wasn't bad but I agree 50 man seems a bit large. Might think about 30 and see how that goes some day.

One thing I just learned is that conscripts do not have to be bought in tens, they can be bought in any amounts. I am so used to getting infantry in tens that I missed this. Not great, but can be helpful if you need a few points for something.
