Ah, the humble Sky Talon. A cheaper Valk with no troops capacity, the ability to carry a Tauros or some Drop Sentinels, and a Heavy Bolter replacing the multilaser, keeping the ability to take rocketpods. However, it also has Vector Dancer and, while being Heavy Support, doesn't take up Force Org slots. Could this be the ideal "cheap" support flyer if you don't plan on using flyers as transports? Or are you better off paying more for the Valkyrie?
NOTE: I'm not counting the Vendetta, since it's more an AT platform than the other two.

I did not notice how cheap this thing was. It beats the regular Valkyrie if you are not taking cargo.
I think if you can spend the extra the Vulture is a better choice with the punisher cannons or quad MRPs. You get vector dancer and strafing run, which is pretty sweet.
Are drop sents or the Taurus any good?

Multi-Melta Deep Striking Scout Sentinels. Oh yes.
The normal Taurus looks like a faster Sentinel with better armour and twin HKs/more close-range weapons. The Venator variant is more a twin-linked firepower base, like a Landspeeder Typhoon.

It always seems to me that the mobility and deployment options available to the units the talon can deploy make the whole transport capacity of the talon pointless in game terms... unless you were playing on a massive table or one covered in impassable terrain.
Saying that, the talon is often looked upon and within my top 5 forgeworld bookmarks. (the vulture and punisher cannons are 3 and 4).

Personally, I think the Talon has the perfect profile for many IG 'fighter jet' conversions. Nimble, cheap, light weaponry. It's a fighter plane masquerading as a transport in my view.

Having just looked at aueronautica I'm inclined to agree, its brings 2 hellstrike and a heavy bolter for the cost of one unit of veterans, yet built into the chassis of a fast moving AV12 vector dancer. The upgrade to MRP's is well worth the additional few points.
I like this as it relieves me of the puzzle of what I put into the aircraft, when all I really want is something to fly around and shoot stuff.
