Okay, so, I've been following these boards for a long time now and love all the cool stuff people come up with. I also finally decided it was time to share my own army, the Cadian 414th Mechanized. I'm going for an urban scheme in the painting, so my troops are sufficiently covered in soot.
These are some of my officers. I like to try to give them a little character.
And this is my Straken conversion. I used some various bits from www.anvilindustry.co.uk to give him some power armor that doesn't look like the usual Space Marine stuff along with a nice big power sword and a sawed-off double barrel shotgun I sculpted. I think he turned out pretty well.
This guy is probably my favorite. He came about from a conversation with a friend I was having, which went something like this:
Me: "Hey, you can totally give a company commander two powerfists."
Him: "Yeah, but who would actually do that?"
Me: "Challenge accepted."
And here are a few Inquisitorial crusaders, for giggles.
Here's a shot of my vets. I end up fighting CSM a lot, so powerfists are nice. These were some of the first models I painted, and have since decided I hate painting the acquilas gold and have started doing them in white (you can see the newer grenade launcher guy back there has that).
And some commissars. I painted the one on the left, but I bought the one on the right off ebay because it looked so ridiculously cool. He has warpaint. Who puts warpaint on a commissar? The guy I bought it from, apparently.
Here are some sergeants and guardsmen. The middle sergeant there was a lot of fun to paint because I wanted him to have one of those old school cop 'staches.
Here's my hellhound/devil dog/bane wolf (it's magnetized). I went a little crazy with the scorch marks and soot on this thing, but I kinda like it. I still need to do the tracks, though.
And this is my salamander conversion. I took a page out of AshotNINJA's book and converted a greyhound model.
And to wrap it all up, here's an army shot.
Posting these pictures made me realize just how much I neglect painting regular old guardsmen. I have a lot more of them that are just sitting around unpainted. Same thing with chimeras; there's just something about them that makes them less fun to paint than Russes. But I'm also working on some other projects, like carapace vets and guardsmen on ATVs, so I'll share those when I make some progress on them. Hope you like 'em!
