Hey all, Its been awhile since I've posted anything but I have an upcoming game and have had some past trouble with new Tau. I have a 2500 game agaisnt Tau this Thursday and I need some pointers on how to make my list a little better,
Here it is:
CCS: 4x Plasma + PP and bodyguards LC: PS and PP with Cara Primaris Psyker
3x Plasma Vets with PP and Chimera with Autocannon 3x Melta Vets and Chimera with Autocannon
3x Vendettas
2x Leman Russ with Lascannons
Leman Russ Vanquisher with Lascannon
Manticore
The Tau player usually fields:
Special Taros Campaign BattleSuit hero that has Preferred Enemy (Imperial Guard) 2x Riptides
Squad of five stealth fighters
1 Tau Sun Shark
1 squad of Tetras
2x squads of Kroot
2x Tau Hammerheads
I can;t remember what else he will have but this is his usual list he fields. What can I change or use that might help me in holding out a little better against his Riptides?

I recommend removing the Battle Tank Lascannons. You're better off snapfiring a heavy bolter. Keep the las on the Vanquisher, that's a good choice.
A Riptide has a 2+ save. either plasma it to death or drown it in shots.

A Riptide has a 2+ save. either plasma it to death or drown it in shots. Or ignore it. Focus fire on Tau troops, and win through attrition. I find a lot of Tau players using the Riptide as a giant bullet magnet.
