Hi everyone,
the Eldar arrived a little while ago now and I'm wondering what to expect from Eldar opponents on the battlefield,
From reading it I got the impression that they still hold strong psychic potential and have generally had an all-over boost in ballistic ye have been unable to spot any of the critical combo's which might make my guardsmen tremble.
Against Eldar I would normally stock a lot of S6 for instant death, plus as much high power non-melta as I can, the old Eldar had very few blast or flamer templates so blobs were effective - I'm not sure if this is so viable these days...
anyone out there got any good tips?
look forward to hearing from you! ... ps happy new year!

I played as Eldar verse Inq and sisters. I don't own the army. The things I noticed:
Wave Serpents are great. They have lots of firepower, very fast, and also durable. Counter is to spam autocannons. The shield is pretty overpowered and dangerous to most of our troops. If I recall correctly, its is str 7 ignore cover and no AP with super range and up to 7 shots. I would avoid blobs, just use individual squads and lots of them.
Individual guardians and avengers are fast and can shoot pretty hard. Their assault wasn't that great verse power armor, but I think it would shred our troops. With run shoot run, they can sneak around LOS blocking terrain and in and out of cover saves. Counter is some artillery or cover ignoring weapons. Also our longer range weapons.
Lot of good powers and psykers means lots of buffs, expect them to re-roll to hit and have increased cover saves. Counter is same as above.
Crimson hunter is a hard hitter, but falls easy to anything. A hydra or quad gun will do the job. Just watch out for serpent shield spam. Also it will kill your flyers so try to position them to safe guard them or force an interceptor shot first.
I didn't have a Wraithknight to use, but it seemed like nothing special.
If I were you, I would bring lots of a bunch of autocannon INF squads. Some artillery that ignores cover and a manticore. Bring some outflankers and deep strikers like an Al platoon, stormtroopers, or Harker. Ratlings and Marbo would work well too.
