Building an Imperial Guard Army

Hi all!   Thanks for having me in the group.  I look forward to learning from everyone here and hope to one day be able to pass the wisdom that you have given me down to others as well.

Here is my situation.  I am going to building an Imperial Guard army, but I want it to be 'themed'.  I am going to make this theme, Cobra (yes from GI Joe).  I've got a basic idea of what I am after in a nutshell, but I'm running into issues with what I want to do and what I can do are very different things.  

• Basic troops will be Wargames Factory Shock troops.
  
• Hiss tanks will become Leman Russ Tanks (no sponsons).
• I have a figures for the Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow
• Bubble Troubles will be count as Sentinels.
• Valkyries will be Rattlers.
  

Here is the problem that I am facing and I'm hoping that you all can help me out here and give me some ideas.

   Fang Helicopters, I love the miniature for these, but I can't think of anything that I can use it for in a 40k Imperial Guard army.  For those of you that don't know what a Fang is, it's a 1 man helicopter.  Pretty much along the same lines as a deffkopta.  It's a pity that Imperial Guard don't have any type of motorcycle.  *sigh*


   Cobra really never got a troop transport that I can think of, so, Chimeras will be (drumroll please) Chimeras!  I've looked at a couple.

    If you can think of anything that might help (I've trolled the internet for ideas on this), please post away.  Of course, as I work on this army, I will try my best to post up pictures.

What models are you using here for the tanks, actual toys? Oddly, they'd be cheaper (I'm a GIJoe collector too).

Thanks!  There is a manufacturer that produces 25/28mm miniatures that I can use.  Don't get me wrong, they are just about as expensive as GW, so I'm not saving anything really.  It's a matter of aesthetics (aka eye candy)!    

Check out Shape ways and search for 28mm Sentry Tank.  You will be surprised at what you will find.

Ah. Well, if that's sized for 28mm figs, it will be significantly smaller than a Leman Russ, which holds two to three times as many crew. It might work as a Salamander scout (or a count-as Chimera, as IIRC there was a variant of the HISS that carried troops in a closed compartment).

It's a touch smaller than an Chimera.  So Hiss tanks will become count as Chimera's.  Good catch!

Wait... Major deja vu here. Didn't we have a member who was doing a Cobra-themed Guard army several years ago (like 2011-2012)? I definitely remember seeing Bubble Trouble Sentinel conversions...

No problem. Actually its annoying that I missed the end of Kobra commander's thread; his new improved Storm Vipers are simply amazing .
