Just a heads up, guys, the Scandinavian DLC has been released as a Beta, so we can play with the new units while the devs make new maps. It should be released properly in January.
I, for one, welcome our new Otomatic overlords.

So it turns out, Danish infantry wave attacks are close to unstoppable.

Good man!
Red Dragon is the most recent so tends to be where most players are. It also adds new features, however I still am fond of Airland Battle as I had a better success rate!

Good man! Red Dragon is the most recent so tends to be where most players are. It also adds new features, however I still am fond of Airland Battle as I had a better success rate! Played some games against the AI today on easy mode....mah god, AAA spam for days. My A7's, A-4's and Torando's got rocked without doing jack, and that's after I knocked out some of his flak tanks. Also, red tanks are tough. After getting my teeth kicked in 4 times in a row on skirmish, I like it.

Couple of pointers which I find helpful.
A) How to win VS AI
1) design your deck and then design your AI players deck, make sure you take note of range of weapons, amount of ammo and the damage dealt. be fair to both sides. 2) play a game using those decks (probably lose .. well, I normally do first game against hard AI) 3) watch the replay, look at what you did that went wrong, and look at places which will give cover whilst providing good LOS on the AI advancing units. 4) play the game again using the knowledge learned about the map and the AI tactics to set up ambushes and exploit areas that are poorly defended.
B) recon units are invaluable - they are your eyes and will allow your units to use the full range of their weapons
C) attacking forces need to be about 3 times larger than the defenders forces, you will often win by having a good defense which kills the AI alpha strike
D) supplies are vital, send re-supply units to support your front line to ensure they keep firing - include re-supply in your initial deployment of forces.
E) don't fly planes straight toward the enemy, try coming in from a flank and sweeping parrelel along the front-line, that way the planes don't head into enemy territory
F) assign a key to 'Fire Position' and use this when picking targets with planes and arty, if the target is lost through lack of recon the unit will still fire on the location and then evac. (and not fly around in circles above the AI AA!).
hope those help!

Doesn't seem to matter which way I point my planes, AA is brutal. And his seem to fly like Maverick through mine....

You might want to try giving the AI an unfair deck, one that crimps them. Cheap planes, one or two cards of radar AA to be dealt with by your SEAD, a single card of mortars, etc. You can't learn the underpinnings of the game by flying in to impenetrable Tunguska walls or being buried under hordes of Abrams. Fight what you can get a handle on, then take what you've learned and ramp up the difficulty. If you'd like, I can always provide you with a copy of my mod. There's more room in the decks, more units per card, aircraft have a touch more fuel and logistics aren't as severe. You won't be able to do online games with anyone who doesn't have it, but it's more geared toward fighting the AI, and giving you a bit more of a margin for error and experimentation than the base game without being absurd. I wasn't planning on making a new version until DLC 3 is out of beta, but I can whip up a version with the basic gameplay changes and a few choice factions restructured this weekend if you're interested. If you're more interested in multi, consider signing up for the Wargame Learning Program. Fighting the AI will help you learn the basics, but it's different ball game than fighting a good human opponent.

yup.. I agree with Reds here:
Make an AI deck that is limited and play against it a few times while slowly including more units.
This should enable you to get the grasp of the various units and their roles without being swamped by sheer volume of information.
I have 2 decks which are specifically designed for british vs russian tank vs tank warfare with no other units involved (except a single tank CV each). challengers vs cheap spam and the occasional 808; lots of fun.

Ok sounds like a good idea. Ya, I'd hope to get playing multi at some point but just feeling out the mechanics for a bit now. Thanks guys.

Ok will do.
Made an easier deck (or so I thought) and barely scraped out a victory. Short of giving him T-34/85's, he still gets quite a bit of tanks that seem to go toe to toe with mine.
The reduced AA settings working better for my planes, though I'm still having trouble lining up there flight patterns. I know you can spin the map with the mouse wheel (or middle mouse button for some). A-10 is a boss, A-4's and 7's did mediocre. Couldn't seem to shoot down his planes though with mine.
Early game flanking with Sheridan's is great (learned that from an earlier BMP raid on my HQ for probably the quickest AI victory ever), stupid Rusky artillery was wrecking me before.
Vulcan's are a major pain to position. Every few minutes that stupid gas can is flashing on them...

The AI tends to put up a few small but strong fronts but is pretty lazy when it comes to defending other places. If you hit them where they aren't then you can do a lot with a small but balanced force.

I fired about 50 rounds of artillery at these 4 Burrantino's. Not a single round hit them. In the end I used one tornado and got all four, and I learned not to rely on cheap artillery units.
