Hello everyone. Just signed up for some Guard comradeship and advice. I've been collecting and painting for about five years now and will be moving to the Leesburg , VA area soon so I may be able to start playing some games. I have Cadians (about 100) with some (12) heavy support, Catachans (50 or so), and Elysians (50 something) that I have been making lists for without being able to test or talk about, so here I come with all the newbie questions about game play. From what I've read so far, this looks like a good home for a Guard wannabe.

Welcome to the IGMB! *Takes a tissue sample from the new Conscript so that clones may be produced as required* You'll know why when it happens.*Activates the random new Conscript induction mission generator* For your first mission you must kill that Ork Warboss in 'Eavy Armor ovva dere using the following equipment: *Issues the new Conscript with a Catachan Hunting Cannon, and a square of single-ply toilet paper armor* Upon successful completion of your mission you may petition the Munitorum for more equipment. Enjoy your stay on the board, and remember that sanity is, at best, optional when venturing into the Underhive. On another note: There are several IGMB members who live in NoVA, myself and RedsandRoyals included. I've not played in quite some time, thanks to spending the past 2.5 years flogging myself through grad school, and am looking to start playing again, having gone to the lengths of re-building my gaming table in what has been dubbed by ElegaicRequiem (who is also fairly local) as the Super Basement TM in my house. There is also supposedly a cool gaming store called Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn that a friend of mine (who unfortunately doesn't play 40K anymore) has been raving about where we might be able to initially get a game in... Also, it's always good to see another Jungle Fighter here on the board!

Welcome to IGMB.
I too am somewhat in the area, being from the eastern shore of MD. Ask away with your questions as this message board may very well have the answers you're looking for.

Many thanks Captain Diabeetus. Huzzah Hobbies is on my auspex already. There is a hobby shop in Leesburg proper, but more trains than wargaming. I didnt see any tables there. Thanks for the info and it's good to know someone in area already. I will be moving May 1...still looking for a room to rent while my house goes on the market here in PA. Got a spare cot in that Super Basement???

I think my first questions will be regarding the list building. I have a variety of models that can be configured in quite a few ways. What's the best way to go about getting started? I was thinking I could just make a list of everything I have and see what combinations are come up with. Or I could post the lists that I have come up with myself and see what you think of those. Also, I'm not too sure where to post these questions. Am I restricted to the beginners board for awhile? I can take some pictures if that will be of interest. CF

Argh... I wish I had room in my house to rent out, but sadly I do not. Let me ask around with other people I know in the area to see if they may have any space. You are most definitely not restricted to the Beginners Board. The infantry, tanks, and tactics sub-sections may be good places for asking about how to configure your models. Many of us are fans of magnetization, so you can get multiple uses out of one mini just by swapping weapons and equipment around. And photos of your stuff are always welcome--they go in the Picture Post section, although you can also put them in Painting and Modeling for ongoing projects if you wish. I tend to put all of my photos in Picture Post, though, in one mondo-sized thread.

I've just got to do a bit more flocking and my RoB tiles will be finished. If local and near-local IGMB members would like to congregate at my house some day, I will provide adult beverages (for those who partake in such libations), and if y'all help me move some furniture around to get my house configured we can then put the 8" X 4" gaming table in the Super Basement TM to good use.

After the first week of May count me in. Sounds like a fine place to start my education in actually using my mini collection.

A basement is always an institution of higher learning.
