Anyone have any ideas on how to convert the treads on a Taurox to something better?

I plan to give my Ork To-WarOrkz a set of big monster truck / jeep wheels.
I also have the tracks of an old panther tank lying around which might fit under the whole thing, though I kinda prefer the idea of a half track or wheeled machine.

Im gonna convert mine to have 4 or 6 large 28mm diameter wheels... I want mine to look like a buffalo 6X6.... should be a easy enough conversion... might have to make some new suspension though... with the spare tracks im gonn make a trailer for another vehicle. .. or a mobile quad gun

I've seen people planning to try to turn it into either of these vehicles: Someone I know did a Photoshop of what it'd look like replacing the front tracks with double wheels, to make it a legit half-track. However, after seeing the rest of the Taurox's dimensions, we felt that even that wouldn't work as the back end is too short.

I was thinking the halftrak look with wheels in the front. Just need to find some with the right scale/
Using the tracks for a trailer/gun carriage is an excellent idea.

I think you might run into a problem with the way the front suspension is. They point down far to the bottom of the track making it awkward for adding a wheel raising the front end significantly. In addition, they are very thick looking so cutting it might be out. You might have to replace the whole thing. Then you will have to plasticard in new wheel covers.

Yeah, I'd like to see what the suspension parts for the front section look like before deciding to try anything. I'm guessing my razor saw could make short work of trimming them down, but TBH the model is so derpy I'm not sure it'd be worth the effort.

Side by side against the Chimera the regular version doesn't look that bad and I think someone with some talent could make it look great, but it seems like the rules are just nowhere near good enough to warrant bothering.
The real problem is it doesn't really do anything different than the Chimera. No one was saying if only the chimera had a free dozer blade and weaker armor. And while the prime version has higher BS and decent fire power its nothing compared to the ridiculousness of the wave serpent, which is only 35 points more expensive.
If the vehicle was assault and both were fast it might be something, but as it stands there doesn't seem to be any use for this one.

Depends on how short it is but maybe Battlewagon tracks replacing the back tracks. Possibly wheels for the front too.

Wheels would definitely make the Taurox look better. If I really wanted to have one in my army I think I would just wait and get the upcoming Keilerkopf APC from DreamForge games and use it as a proxy.

Is it heresy to like the Taurox as it is and want to use them as Chimeras for a veteran army?

much heresy.
unless you are an ork.
in which case it is perfectly reasonable to think the ******* ********* ***** ** * ***** ****** taurox is okay.
and even from an ork point of view only some of it is good.
on the other hand... dream forge is making cool looking stuff that i like for my human space men soldier peoples.

I like the look of the treads and the bulkiness of the whole thing appeals to me. I might pick up a few when I'm getting the stormtroopers.

I'll definitely be adding at least one of those bad boys to my mechanized infantry, probably for some sort of specialist EOD squad or something. I actually prefer them to the Chimera AIV, I doubt people would cause too much fuss tbh...

I too hope that my comment is a fallacy...... however with GW marketing techniques this may be a valid theory YOU WERE RIGHT 65 pts isn't bad, I'm thinking there may be savings in points across the list that may make up for the increase on the chims. And really.... who ever used the smoke launchers and lights anyways....
