Ok so I'm playing a game on my own (Because I'm cool) so guard against guard. I have a twin linked auto cannon firing at a Front Armour of 12. So attackers weapon skill as Guard is 3 against targets weapons skill is 3 so to hit is a 4+, I got both hits... but what do I do now? Roll to see if it explodes? I read it in the codex but I don't know if i'm doing this right? Help would be really great right now Thank you Major Downer

Waitaminute. You've been on this board over two years and you don't know how to play?
OK, granted, I haven't played much 6th at all, but I'm pretty sure it's still the same as usual.
Weapons skill is use in close combat. Shooting does not involve comparison of weapons skills at all -- it involves ballistic skill, which is subtracted from seven to determine the to-hit roll. In this case, autocannons hit on a 4+. So you've hit, and your next step is to determine if your strength 7 shots crack Armour 12. If they do, then you roll on the damage table.

cool.. i applaud your self play!
try looking around or asking nicely via PM's if anyone has a digital copy of a main rule book they might accidentally send you.
in the mean time,
shooting vs infantry:
roll to hit, roll to wound, roll save
shooting vs tank:
roll to hit, roll to penetrate, roll for damage if shot succeeds in penetrating

Once you hit a vehicle then it is the weapon strength (7 for an autocannon) +D6. If that number is lower than the armour facing the shot does nothing. If it is equal to it is a glancing hit, if it is greater then it is a penetrating hit.

Yes you are right, over two years and now I have the rule book and a big enough army that I enjoy painting, I am now teaching myself how to play the game on my own so I know what I'm doing when I play someone else . @treads: Thank you for the support! I enjoyed the part where all 3 Bassies smashed a 10 man squad... Brought a tear to my eye! Thank you for the clarification gents, I know most of it after I had a 4 turn game against my self. I'll be re-reading the assault profile because that sh!t got confusing! haha Either I had some lucky dice rolls or all 10 or my ratlings actually killed a lord Commissar on Horseback, in close combat. :/ N00B in self training Major Downer

I picked up 5th playing Templars vs Guard and then vs Orks against myself. and I got more out of a quick dummy game of fantasy than I did from staring at the rules.
