Sounds kind of cool to me. Chaos is all corrupting after all.

It said play testing. I am sure it will exist in some form, but not without serious penalties.

Is that going to be an thing? ooh whoops really sorry the link didnt work, but yeah on oe side i hope so, low level psykers turning into unstoppable close combat machines is cool, but.. i dont know, its just a shock change from the humble twin-linking psychic that we know and love! ands they did say theres gunna be a new psychic tree so yeah!

If I recall correctly, from the distant past of the late 80's and early 90's in Rogue Trader days, this was actually a thing that could happen in games... The one specific thing I remember was rolling up characteristics for a Bloodthirster's Axe of Khorne, and finding that is was possessed by another Bloodthirster who had been bound to the axe, meaning that if the Bloodthirster wielding it was somehow killed then the Bloodthirster bound in the axe would pop out and start going on a rampage. It may have been possible to have Psykers possessed in the same way by daemons (although it may have only applied to Chaos-type Psykers).

It would be pretty cool if that's how it works but I see it as an other cash grab by GW. Now if you want to use these psychic powers, you need a chaos deamons codex and a bloodthirster model.

If you're out of cash or unwilling to buy a bloodthirster and lack a suitable stand-in (like a deamon prince), you can always proxy something as the bloodthirster. An ornament, a paper weight or even a hard boiled potato on a base spring to mind.

but it could be possession of the psykers own body, no need for another model.

I hope you are ready for some serious trolling: imgur.com/axEAxRGGW is basically like: "BUY DAEMONS NOW EVERYONE" Unless there are some serious changes to the psyker use IE with the dispelling and the other partner Santic tree, there are going to be some problems. We don't know the risks associated with summoning, but right now it seems super powered.

I've been summoned by the Power of the Potato.
I have no problem with the concept of a Malific Powers set, and I don't know enough of the current crunch as to how powerful they'll be, but the Imperium shouldn't have access to it. The whole "Hey I'm going to let my loyalist psyker summon a goddamn major daemon out of his brainmeats" is utterly idiotic, unless there are accompanying rules where you automatically lose control of any Craftworld Eldar or Imperial allies you take, every "loyalist" model within 12in of it has to shoot at it, and it can only be controlled by a passerby or third player. Then it would actually make sense.
/curmudgeon
Now, if it was treated as some sort of campaign event or Apoc strategem, I'd be okay with that. It makes an interesting story dynamic for a campaign, particularly if it's to stave off a crushing defeat, and in Apoc, it fits better because the scale of those battles means they're probably significant in some way. Having Ezekiel, the Grand Master Librarian of the Dark Angels, ignore every bit of indoctrinated training, sidestep every precaution, and totally set aside all common sense to turn himself inside out and pull a Bloodthirster out of his sphincter just to win a minor skirmish is just stupid, though.

I agree 100%. I also noticed that this entire tree is insanely powerful. Every abilities is pretty good. Even the weaker gaze power can still penetrate AV 14 with a good roll.

yvain: Like I said, I'm so out of touch with the crunch that I can't really comment on it. You, I've noticed, seem to know the rules pretty damn well, so I'm going to take your word for it. It does lead me to suspect there will be some sort of rework of the drawbacks to psy powers, or they'll be easier to counter. Otherwise 7th Ed. is going to be Psyker Ed. I admit that I'm being excessively bitter over nothing more than a transparent attempt to push Codex: Daemons on people, but the idea of a Craftworld Eldar or Imperial psyker, especially an SC with an established personality, just going "LOLHERESY" and summoning a daemon bothers me.

I love the idea of a passerby or a third party control the daemon. Expect to see that on the shelves for a hefty fee.

Big thing is power are random and there is a lot of way for them to fail unless they are blessings. Most of the trees are currently loaded with useless ones so it is a crap shoot to roll for a tree and walk away with garbage power. Here they all have a use and are pretty effective except for maybe the two attack powers, but the one is a torrent so it can has some good range and the other crappier one has potential to be strong. However, with the ways powers casting might change this might not be much of an issue.

Another guys posted this for additional psy phase rules. This is a quote from his blog so it may be bogus:
Psychic Phase
Roll a D6 and add the total mastery levels of all your psykers. You get that many power dice and your opponent gets that many DTW dice.
To cast a power, you need to roll a 4+ for every warp charge of the power you're using. So warp charge 2 = two 4+, meaning you'd need 4 power dice to have an average shot.
Your opponent dispels the power with a roll of a 6 on their dice. So the more dice they have, the more shots they get at rolling that 6 to cancel out that critical power. I was told that the mastery level of the psyker dispelling the power lowers the roll needed to dispel it. So a ML2 psyker dispels on a 5+, ML3 on a 4+. etc...
That is what I was told.
That seems wrong to me because Fateweaver, Eldrad and Ahriman could dispel anything on a 3+. More likely, I would think you compare mastery levels between the casting psyker and the dispelling psyker, and apply a bonus that way. This is conjecture. What I wrote above is what I was told.
What I also don't know is if there is a dice limit a psyker can use to cast or dispel a power based on their mastery level. I also don't know if you need two 6's to dispel a ML2 power. I assume you do.
You would figure Adamantium Will would give you +1 to DTW for powers cast at a unit with that rule.
In addition: Battle Brothers are DE/Eldar, Chaos/Daemons, All Imperium armies together. Everything else is reduced.
Jink is now +4, however you have to activate it and can only snap shot afterwards.
The consolidate into combat rumor is bogus (or so this guy claims)

Dear Humans,
Just an update to keep you in the loop. We believe this is known as a "Candlemas Family Letter." Foolishness.
Anyhoo, you know how we've been cool, at least, on occasion, in our fight against the mutual foe? Chaos. We're talking about Chaos. Yeah, so... we've decided that we're going to go a different way and go full Battle Brother with our own wayward kin. Since, well, you're a bunch of Mon-Keigh, and they're still Eldar.
Love,
Spess Elfs
PS: You smell weird. That was the dealbreaker.
