That doesn't bother me so much. It is difficult modeling an ork with excessive dakka that looks right to the human eye but the fluff maintains that they can handle that kind of ridiculous firepower.

nice looking models.. if only they were holding the guns in both hands.. it breaks the illusion to see a model holding a gun that large one handed... Pretty sure that the Kaptin' has a shoulder strap connecting his Snazzgun to his shoulder armor so he can wave the choppa around... Glory of using the 360 degree view to look at the mini from all angles and all. And the Ork with the cigar has his Snazzgun resting on a bipod, while the rest of them have a handlebar sticking off the side of their Snazzgunz that they are grabbing with their left hands.

I picked up the new White Dwarf today, and the Flashgitz's kit looks pretty freaking amazeballs. Crapton of bits to customize the Snazzgunz. This release may get me back to working on my Orks... Now if only I can get my grubby hands on Badrukk for a reasonable price (people are trying to sell him on the Bay o' E for $50+, including ones that are missing bits) in metal. He's out of stock at GW, and unfortunately is listed as being Finecrap...

I'm glad I got my metal one before they made the switch. That said I bought mine from the GW website so it probably wasn't that good a price. (Are gitz on 40mm bases now?)

Are gitz on 40mm bases now? Yes; the rumours have been saying for a while that flash gitz are now all Nobz rather than normal boyz. Sucks if you converted your own pirate ork army, although if you did you could say that the lesser pirates are just aspiring flash gitz (normal boyz) and haven't got the right gear yet.

Shouldn't be too bad for me, I only have 5 and I can stick a couple of the 20mm onto 40mm and model the base as a scrap pile.

Or you could stick the base on to another base, on to another base, like a Russian doll.

Or you could stick the base on to another base, on to another base, like a Russian doll. Have a Snotling piloting a Grot that is piloting a Boy that is piloting a Nob that is piloting a Warboss in Mega-armor that is piloting a Gorka/Morkanaught that is piloting a Stompa that is piloting a Gargant that is piloting a Great Gargant... Wait. What? All kidding aside, though, how hard would it be to pop your current converted Flash Gitz off of their current bases and stick them onto some 40mm bases? Could you do it without trashing the minis? Also: Someone needs to give me a metal Badrukk.

You need to market a ziggurat style 40mm-->50mm(centurion base)-->60mm base with snotlings climbing up the stairs, 3ff3ct.

mek gun stats now out... not much excitement except the tractor beam gets skyfire and can twin link if you buy extra crew.. so some fairly solid AA (for orks) is coming
the rest of the big (sorry: Meks) guns are mid range tank ticklers

Am I crazy for thinking about getting a Dakkajet kit, and then sticking the arms and legs from a Deffdread onto it to make an Orky-equivalent of the Valkyrie from Macross in GERWALK mode?

Waaaa...? Mek Gunz are $46 each! Buy one, stick the other guns to some randomly made bitz box chassis That's kind of what I was thinking. It depends on if the gunz themselves share common bits at their core, or if they're all unique. But also, you'd need to get more Grotz to crew them, and I really do like the Grotz that come with the Mek Gunz kit.

Yeah, the grots are cool. There's always the Forgeworld ones too...? Probably wouldn't save any money then though

I'll probably pick one up in a week or two. So if you haven't already found out I can post some unboxing notes about gun switching. Pick up grot crew on ebay.

Egg-sell-ant plan, emptyhat! D.o.N.T. looks forward to your report on the Nice Fings in dat box... I almost picked up the Gorkanaut at the FLGS this past weekend, but really couldn't justify the expense.

in the UK a stompa is only £5 more.
The stompa is a fantastic kit which I loved building, it has bucket loads of detail across the structure and amusing details in the grot krew.
the ork-a-nought is lacking considerably in detail - far too many smooth panels and even quality of build. Not very orky.
The Stompa is also a complete BOSS on the table. The ork-a-nought is ... meh.
spend the extra couple of quid and get a decent model which can provide you with what you need for an ork army - reliable ranged anti tank.
Its also one of the best point to pound / dollar ratio's out there.
I'm not sure what the new apoc book lists it as but it used to be 650 odd points.
One of mine with its upgrades (lifta-droppa, belly gun, repair krew, deff aresenal) comes in at about 1000 points alone. and it is properly "dead 'ard and stompy".

1000 points! That's a one super heavy walker army, Tread. The repair krew is a great upgrade for a super heavy and you can always have a Big Mek nearby.

its crazy... the old out of date pdf gave it a total damage output of:
Big Shoota S5 x 9 Belly Gun S7 3D6" radius Deff Kannon S10 7” Blast Lifta-Droppa (kills a tank on a 4+.. sometimes kills 2) (or an assassin) Deff Arsenal S9 x 3D6 *(+ Rokkitz) Giga Shoota S6 x 6D6 Co-Axial Gaze of Mork S2D6 x D6 Supa Rokkitz, S8 x 3 *(+ D3 per turn) Supa Skorcha S6 Template at 12" Repair Krew
which is a lot.

In a sadistic way I want to face the Stompaz again with my normal list just to see how long my anti tank marines hold up/ if they can blow it up. You've turned me into a Stompa fighting addict/ fiend... *sigh*

Working on my Gork/Morkanaut, so far I'm somewhat convinced that they had planned to make this a four sprue kit and at some point during design were told "No!" by marketing (who then left the price the same). Other than missing the grot crew, which is strange for a unit with a detailed interior there are a few places that haven't been detailed that would fit another piece. On the subject of detail. The parts of the kit that have been detailed are quite nice and there are things you'd miss from looking at the GW painted photos. Fairly nice for the part that you'll probably never see. It is hard o tell here but there is basically an engine room in the lower torso where you can easily stick a grot (I'm painting one I built for it right now). The upper torso also seems to have a couple of lookout holes in it that are perfect for more gretchin crew. For a part that is going to be covered by the head it is surprising that they have given it cool mechanical workings. And then left the other side of it blank... the one that is part of the detailed interior. Similarly the slabby bits of the outer torso are scrapped and dented to give back some texture to a very large single chunk of metal. But then the insides of the doors are almost essentially hollow, ruining the idea that the orks just spot welded a piece of starship hull or battleship to function as the door.
