Good work on the speedy assembly and plasticard welding plates. Surprising that it came with no krew, for such a big kit. Edit: GW MorkanaughtDoes anyone else just spin the 360 degree picture around really fast, like a roulette wheel?

in the UK a stompa is only £5 more. spend the extra couple of quid and get a decent model which can provide you with what you need for an ork army - reliable ranged anti tank. I've already got 2 Stompas. One built but not primed, and the other still on sprues in a box. Got them years ago. Really must get around to building the second one and then get them painted up... And yeah, I've been thinking the Gorkanaut could do with some extra plasticard panels and MOAR rivets, but right now I don't have time to work on it.

I just put the doors on the lower torso and I'm looking at the completed lower torso and thinking that this would make a nice gargant head.

cheminhaler:
I'd be up for fightin' your space marines with a stompy dread mob...
As for the ork-or-not..
looks like there's some nice plastic.. not enough to be worth my while.. but i can see that it holds a bit more attraction than my initial dismissive glance.
looks most suited to being turned into wrecked scenery or other projects than the kit it is supposed to be.
I'd be tempted to steal the dakka arm and use it as a rattla cannon.

Looted wagons not being in the codex is weak. That said, if the WD has decent rules for various different classes of looted vehicle and cool customisation it would be good. But it is probably almost a reprint of the current looted wagon rules >.>
The new mech looks ok, kinda square and blocky. Also, no way at that price.
The painboy however... I really like his face and his Edwards Sizzorhands doks tools. I'd have to change the peg leg and the grot though.

lots of leakage on the link above about the new dex... sound like its not rumours as people are posting notes from the electronic codex.
haven't had time to digest yet.
much more excited about ork dex than guard.. maybe because they're still called orks and not Xenos Orkos
edit...
initial skim looks AMAZING

The WD Looted Wagon stuff is basically what the Looted Wagon was before. Weak armor, but you can slap a ton of guns on it (up to 1 Killcannon, plus up to 3 of: Big Shoota, Skorcha, Rokkit (or combos thereof), and also give it a Deffrolla, 'Ardcase, and Grabbin' Klaw... Also has transport, and is dirt cheap base cost. Still has "Don't touch dat button" rules.
The Gorkanaut is pretty fun to build. I slapped together the hull, arms, and head last night. The gunner on the Supadeffshoota arm is pretty cool. He basically is riding the back of the run like it's a Warbike. I really need to find the squashed Goblin bit and stick it on the Gorkanaut's base and position one of the 'naut's legs being raised as if it's bringing its foot off the Gobbo and go to town with Blood for the Blood God.
Edit: Awesome, I found the squashed Goblin (part of the Fantasy Giant kit) on the Bay o' E from a seller doing "buy it now" and nabbed it.

I built the Mek gun last night.
As far as switching the gun around there is some good news. The different guns basically boil down to which of the four accessories is plugged into the top (which will sit there just fine without ever being glued) and the bit that sticks on the end of the gun. The part for the smasher cannon can be stuck on the end without being glued, the part just slides on. The Kustom Mega Gun sits further back and locks in with the gun's ridges but the end piece is large enough to accommodate two magnets and they don't really have to support any weight so you won't need to glue that one either. So that's two of the four options that work with minimal fuss.
As for the other two, well the bubble chukka connects the same way the KMG dies but it doesn't have room for a magnet. I think you can sort it out with just a little knife work so that it will slide on to the end like the Smasha (if you can be bothered).
Which just leaves the Traktor Kannon, which is probably the one you want the most. The end bit of the gun slides on just as easily as the Smasha but unlike the others this gun has an extra component, that nifty flower corona thingy it has. It comes in two parts and might be too delicate to attach to the gun with anything but glue. It might be possible to pin it with some paperclip fragments or it might just be easier to put the parts in the bits box and build your own flower thingy that can be easily detached.
....................
Oh, I'll add my thoughts on the model itself. I like it and it is a nice kit with some good bits (I'm nicking the powerpack for something else), the grots really do look smashing. That said, the gun carriage feels a little small. I think it is a combination of how tall it is (which makes me wish it was a little wider) and how expensive the kit is (which makes me wish I got more gun for my cash. I don't regret buying it though, I might be tempted to buy another one in a few months after scratch building some and getting a feel of how many I want on the battlefield.

Good review on the kit, thanks! I may look into grabbing one this weekend... I did just order a Dakka jet and a box of Flashgitz, so them plus the Gorkanaut may have blown my 40K budget for a while (need to set some money aside for the codex).

I also managed to find a metal Kaptin Badrukkk (primed but no other painting done, although he was stuck onto a base that had been fully done) on the Bay o' E for a not unreasonable price and snaffled him up.
I unpacked the rest of my Ork stuff last night and I've got a ton of Boyz to paint. I think I may try to work all of the Klanz into my army in some form or anuvver (except for the Snakebites, unless I decide to call my Weirdboy Old Zogwort).

do you have the new codex now?

I have the Ecodex.
My first impressions are that quite a few units are cheaper and rokkits are about as cheap as big shootas now. But the new dex hates skorchas a little.

from what i have read it seems that orks have an increased amount of random rolls - often leading to more dice rolls.
example of this is the mob rule which seems to be a negative special rule as it offers no bonus and can often hurt the mob a lot (once all the dice rolls have finished), it also seems to get worse once you add a boss pole...

Not sure if I'm reading the new codex wrong but it looks like the Warboss can't take a bike The Warboss can take a Warbike--it's part of the Orky Know-wots list that the Warboss can take upgrades from. However, sadly, Wazdakka Gutzmek is no longer a thing... Although he's still mentioned in the 'dex fluff, and seeing how as there is a and Ork Codex Supplement coming out for Ghazghkull's Waagh, I'm hoping he might come back in a Speed Freeks Supplement. Oh, and speaking of Ghazzie... He's now a Lord of War choice, along with the Stompa.

Fearless mobs of 20+ were better, obviously.
Maybe they're looking to sell Trukks. If morale sucks its better to break your big mobs up into smaller mobz and make them mobile.

Also, is it just me or did the KFF get a big nerf? Big Mek with KFF on foot still gives the 6" invulnerable save bubble, but if he's on a vehicle the way things are written it sounds like only the vehicle gets the invulnerable save, but there's no 6" bubble... Also, I'm sad that Zagstruk is now an HQ choice (instead of a Stormboyz upgrade), Badrukk is an HQ choice (instead of a Flashgitz upgrade), and Snikkrot is an Elites choice (instead of a Kommando upgrade). EDIT: Ah, Snikkrot effectively becomes a Kommando upgrade, so long as he's taken in a detachment that has a unit of Kommandos, in which case he doesn't count against the FoC. I'm peeved that the Warbuggy is still using the model from X editions ago, and that they show the old metal Deffkopta (which is listed on GW's site as no longer available) for the Deffkopta unit entry (thankfully I've got 6 of the plastic Assault on Blackreach minis)...

The warbuggy is ancient. There was an old white dwarf, from when the trukk was released, that showed pictures of studio staff versions of kustom warbuggies out of the trukk kit. Some were really wacky. Its an expensive way to do it, but very variable and you get loads of extra bits. The Taurox could be a great modified buggy.

Yeah, I remember that WD... I do have two extra Trukk kits sitting around that aren't built, and the idea is worth consideration. But I'd rather have them as Trukks full of slugga/choppa Boyz for now; if I split my mobs down (and throw in a couple of spare Nobz) I have more than enough slugga/choppa Boyz to crew four Trukk's worth. Maybe some day I'll go on a bitz buying splurge and get the stripped down parts necessary to build a chassis with a driver, and then proppaly buggy-ify it with plasticard and bitz.
