I was planning on running three hellhounds with heavy flamers in my fast attack slots, and 2 lemon Russ eradicators. Do I run them separately or in squads? What are the pluses and minuses? Mostly run against orks, csm, and tyranids. A

Also...in reading of the fast vehicle rules. I can move cruising speed (12") then fire 2 weapons at full BS? These can be templates?

If these are the only fast attacks and heavies you are bringing, than run them separately. The bonus of squadrons is to bring more. EG, 3 squads of 2 russes or Valkyrie, 3 hellhounds and 2 sentinels. Get it?
Fast vehicles, yes. You can use template weapons when moving cruising speed.
However, understand that at ANY time you are required to snap fire, you can not with a template weapon. It's the fast vehicle rule that make us able to use these weapons.

Along with what stovrose was saying, squaring vehicles can also help keep them alive longer. Being one unit the closest vehicle takes damage first until wrecked then the next one starts taking damage. So you can shuffle vehicles around so the ones with lower HPs are in the back. The biggest downside to squaring vehicles is that they all have to fire at the same unit. So make sure you bring tank squads that have a similar purpose.
