Hello everyone,
I’m designing a mech-foot hybrid list for an upcoming local 5-game league (1850 points). The missions will emphasize mobility (e.g. you often begin accruing points for objectives on turn 2). Here’s the list I’m thinking of bringing.
TALLARN 23RD INFANTRY REGIMENT
HQ (220)
-Yarrick
-3 priests
Notes: Yarrick, Sister Badra, Brother Ziyab, and Brother Xavier buff the conscripts and platoon blobs.
TROOPS (1050)
-Blue Platoon with 35 troopers (PCS, 3 PIS), 4 lascannons, 4 plasma guns
-4 chimeras, each with heavy bolter and multi-laser
-Conscript Platoon Primus with 30 troopers=90
-Red Platoon with 35 troopers (PCS, 3 PIS), 4 autocannons, 3 meltaguns, 30 krak grenades
-Conscript Platoon Secundus with 30 troopers=90
Notes: The mechanized infantry platoon runs around plasma-ing things and screening 3 fearless blobs of 30 as they run up the field.
FAST ATTACK (300)
-Hellhound, dozer blades
-Vendetta
Notes: The Hellhound races around burning things and holding objectives during the early game. The Vendetta does what 'dettas do.
HEAVY SUPPORT (290)
-Wyvern
-Wyvern
-Exterminator, lascannon, sponson multi-meltas=160
Notes: Wyverns can make infantry disappear and the Exterminator is a durable jack-of-all-trades tank.
-Total=1850 pts.
-134 infantry, 8 tanks, 1 flyer=143 models
-8 lascannons, 2 multi-meltas, 4 autocannons, exterminator cannon, 4 multi-lasers, inferno cannon, 6 heavy bolters, heavy flamer, 4 storm-shard mortars=31 big guns
Given the importance of mobility in many of our missions, I’d usually try to control the board by getting some conscripts, chimeras, and hellhounds into the mid-field by turn 2. I managed to (barely) beat an Eldar player with this list in a relic game recently by just flooding the mid-field with bodies backed up by priests and Yarrick. After all, the Tallarn 23rd's motto is "We are many. They are few."
Any feedback would be most appreciated!
