"Well well well, look who finally showed up to the party," Sgt. Tevkov muttered in her native tounge watching the loathsome tyranids come within range of the 83rd's position through the scope of her sniper rifle. The quad gun burst into action bursting harmlessly off of a flying beast's warp radiating carapace.
"Bring that Beast down!" command bellowed over the vox, and Missile Launchers bled the winged beasts off of their supply of flak missiles.
The HK missile wooshed past the Flying xeno's beast and the Commander slammed his fist into the interior of Bug Hunter 1, "Damnation!" he roared zealous to mount the beast's hide on his personal transport.
Lemans russ battle tank "Lazerus" rolled up to the edge of the battle field debris and their ace sponson gunner hosed the forward ranks of the xenos hoarde, Lazcannons, and bolt shells mixed with the deadly fire of the main battle cannon. The crew cheered as flesh spewed into the air amid the violence.
The massive beasts' of the xeno's hoarde flanked the Imperial forces chewing gouts out of their ranks and savaging their armor after salvo's of return fire proved of little effect upon the beast and contact with command on the flank was lost. When Commisair Redduk saw the battle tank Lazerus succumb to electric xenos worms he sounded the retreat.
Rumor's started circulating around the veteran's that the all inspiring Commisair had alterior motives for leaving the Commander to die.

The dice were not with me this game, c'est la vie. We ended at round 3 because companion's already had reserved that time. And I kind of held up the game time we could have used to play making a quick buck.
So since he had slay the warlord, and demolished two unit's (my armor) I admitted defeat.

Too bad you had to call it short. Will you be re-matching it?

Too bad you had to call it short. Will you be re-matching it? Probably not. I had fun just the same. it was good just to finally play with my guardsmen, didn't know what I was really getting myself into when I picked up the guard. Maybe had an inclination, but wow! Can't believe what a loyal servant of the Emperor must do in order to form up a single troop slot. lol

Haha, that's true. It does feel good to get the plastic on the table though. Will you be painting them? And have you picked a scheme?

Well when I finally get my white shields unit ready I'm going to have them done up in a pretty standard light brown/brown with kaki trim and standard cadian olive drab green on all their body armor, helmets, kit, ect.
Other than that, no color scheme. This is the 83rd bits'n'peices, their uniforms don't match.

That's quite a good idea; you'll never get bored of painting the same unit but they sound like pirates. Har harrrr! Next time try to free up more time; playing an average 1500 small game can take forever if you're unfamiliar with the rules but the games get faster the more you play/ learn.

The movement phase is easy (my guard army is quite static like yours); the money is all in the shooting phase.
Personally I just go from left to right trying not to miss out any units. Orders are important; you have to issue them starting with senior officers at the start of your shooting phase. Any successful orders are carried out immediately, then carry on going through your units, making sure they all shoot.
Getting good angles of fire by positioning your infantry squads up high in ruins or something is a good idea; as is giving every infantry squad either an autocannon, missile launcher or lascannon. Keep lasgunners from same squad in front of the hw team all the time; remember the heavy weapons are 'in the rear with the gear'.
Personally I prefer MSU style guard (ie I never 'blob' my infantry squads) because some weapons can kill a whole blob outright, especially exotic/ xenos artillery which will probably ignore cover and be AP5 just to ruin your blob's day.
