$13!?! That’s dirt cheap.
I really should think about adding an Inquisitor too!
Have you started painting them yet?

cool inquisitor. A servo skull or a small servitor hauling a book or relic would be a nice addition I think

They look fantastic!
I love the fact that the Inquisitor has a rebreather hung around his neck just in case!
Melta pistol and Black Templar chainsword FTW! The Sevoskull is a welcome addition too.
Both models are very Grimdark.
Really great work.

Thanks man, I appreciate it! I've been looking for the right model for my inquisitor to lead deathwatch for forever. All the GW ones are great but not really what I picture ordo xenos to be (except eisenhorn and the actual ordo xenos guy who looks straight out of fantasy). I might look more at warmachine models if this is what they have to offer haha

Definitely looks the part! I haven’t seen anything on Warmachine. Might take a look, the quality is good.

Welp, I got one good deal on ebay for most of the empire side of the old 6th ed starter for 30 bucks. So naturally instead of just painting those 40 models, I bought about 70 more. So here it is in all its current glory: the army of Count Otto der Geher, lord of the City of (havnt named) and its surrounding county. Worst part is I have to strip/repaint/touch up almost every model already painted since most of them were done 15ish years ago... Lord Friedrich der Geher and his personal standard/musician. He is first captain to his older brother the count. 3d printed from etsy Full army Shot from the side, the greatswords are now 25 strong (the captain/standard/musician came with 5 extra greatswords too) instagram downloader firefoxAnd 40 (yes 40) 3d printed free company. Meant to be the various town guards, watchmen, duelists, etc that inhabit the county

Great start to your Empire (showing my age!) force.
Always liked the range and it’s good you’re coming up with a backstory!
Who are the dudes with red and gold shields?

Everything that is painted in the picture I did (mostly years ago) and just randomly decided to work on the army again when my parents came to visit last year and had these in their basement since highschool haha. And yes its empire, AoS is cool and all but I never cared about the lore or setting since endtimes. The oldworld is where its at haha.
The dudes with the red and gold shields are the spearmen that came in the 6th edition starter set. Empire side was 16 spearmen (remember when they have you 4/5th of a regiment in a box?), 16 handgunners, a cannon and a commander. So I basically bought a second one and now have 30 spearmen (math is correct, i have dogs that eat models), 30 gunners and folded the two commanders into a unit of knights. Plan for the rest of the army is 3d printing and foundry landsknecht models haha

Fair, funnily enough I’m starting AoS atm!
Those Empire models are amazing, they’re ageing like wine!
Any plans to get a Steam Tank (one of my personal favourites!)
Those printed models fit in seamlessly, once painted you’d never know.
Can’t remember where I heard it but there was a rumour that GW are working on the Cities of Sigmar range as well as the Old World!
Really looking forward to seeing your progress. Keep em coming!

sweet, I've been toying with the idea of printing myself an empire army for the 'old world' or whatever the fantasy reboot is called. I have to take a look at scale of the minis though. I did some handgunners a whilst back and they were much to big. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with your army

Jud: I actually dont plan on the stank. The army is based on a smaller county along a trade route so most of the army will be the counts houseguard with levied pikemen and free company. The steam tank is definitely a toy for the electo counts haha (i think there are only 11 left in the empire at the time of end times). Chem: thanks man! 15 years in the making Nutty: there are tons of great files for the empire but highland games has pretty much the complete line. I have some of their greatswords and free company and they are just great models. Make sure to print them at 28mm instead of 32mm. They will tower over gw models otherwise. So my boss found out about 3d printers and got super excited and sent me out to buy one. Been playing with it all week. Printed this out of a few free files.

Cheers tread, good to see you back Well the inquisitor is started but Im stuck in Dallas a few weeks in a hotel room and thus have borrowed paints from the friend (the sisters i painted) and realized he didnt have any kind of gold or bronze so thats halted for the time being. So I did these guys. First 6 done, now only need to do it 4 times more. I wish these guys were just a tiny bit bigger. They are 28mm but barely and with GWs very loose adaptation of 28mm scale they are a bit shorter but fit the part wonderfully. So here is the first part of the fyrd of the town of Tettenburg on the far northern reaches of the Counts land. Well armed and armored due to their spot along the river and thus a populous trade town. image posting

Absolutely loving these!
I especially like the red/black uniforms they look really realistic.
Any chance of artillery in the future?

Ive got two cannons done years ago and picked up the hellstorm rocket battery for my birthday a few months (happy 30th...). So thatll be a treat when i get through the mountain of unpainted infantry before i strip most of my old infantry and repaint. I should have picked an army to build up that wasnt painted by 14 year old me.

They look great, the heads look a little big on the unpainted ones, but the painted ones look much better proportioned. If you stick them on their bases with the existing base on they should be pretty close in size to the originals though. The scale on empire dudes is kind of weird in general. I was playing around with some minis for a possible mordheim campaign, and got some of the bloodbowl halflings to use.. those hobbits are almost as tall and twice as wide as the empire minis. Not to mention how the old 'puff and slash' state troops look pretty big compared to the slightly less old 'men in tights' state troops. and then there are some other kits that sort of sit in the middle of those scales.. it's a varied bunch to say the least

They look really good. I have some Warlord Black powder infantry of the Grand alliance and the hands look much smaller on those kits than your Pike and Shotte ones.
Is that a gasmask head on one of the spearmen/ pikemen?

Thanks chem, I love recent explosion in plastic historicals. If your talking about the guy 3rd from the left, he just has a blonde beard haha. I did finish up the unit. I decided to assembly line the remaining 25 guys so they are at basic tabletop. They need a few tiny things (plus a banner) and i may do one more highlight on the red but for all intents and purposes they are done. And for those interested in scales, left is warlord, center is 6th ed GW spearman and right is a 32mm print which is about the size most GW models come at now.

They look great ranked up like that. The new GW human scale is bigger than 32mm, if you look at Kairic Acolytes and the new Cadians they're significantly taller and chunkier.
Yeah I've just got Wargames Atlantic Goth Warriors, which were released very recently. Could make some to be used as Chaos Marauders.
A beard? Man I might need to get my eyes checked.....
