Looking good! There's a lot of detail on some tiny tanks there mate, cracking job!! Also flicked back through to admire your death watch stuff... The conversion work is amazing. I did see more, but, memory is failing me as I'm not even through my first coffee yet :/ Keep up the great work mate Dave

That's looking really, really great. How did you find those Ultra shield/sword kits? I've been eyeing those for a Roman-esque Victrix Guard.

No problems at all with the sword and shields. They fit perfectly on the mk4 plastic bodies and came with only some mild flash on a few shields. Mind you these are recasts I got off ebay, not the legit forgeworld.

The Heresy Ultramarines look amazing. Is that a terminator apothecary to the left of the captain in terminator armour, up on the ruins? The robe on that model looks impressive.

They look very bright, especially after looking at Reds' very dark Ultramarines, is that where they are at in the painting process or a style choice? I actually really like the almost pastel take you've got going on here, they look like they're from a 40k Saturday morning cartoon show where they'd fight against some primary colour Orks, hmmmm now I'm imagining a cartoon that's a bit like the 90s X-Men one but with Ultramarines.

Looking good! I too love the blue. I'm finding threads like yours make me want to rebuild my own Ultramarines (they're just so cool!!) Any thoughts on what you're going to get next?

Thanks everyone! They are a labor of love. chem: It is the limited edition termi primus medicae that GW stores had as an exclusive a few months back. Honestly, not a pretty model. Hes very clunky and the arm poses dont help. Here is a close up of him. empty:It was a style choice. I set out originally with the intent of having them darker (was going to wash them in blue) but I really liked the sky blue i had gotten so I kept it. I find that while it is lighter than most other UM armies, its not so light as to not fit fluff (atleast thats what I tell myself). jud: Im not sure yet. My army is lacking severely in heavy support so perhaps a Spartan, Leviathan Dread, and/or some heavy support squads. I also really need the man himself (Guilliman) to lead my Invictatus Suzerans. Then transports, some fast attack, then whatever catches my eye. As it currently stands the army is at about 4,100 points with upgrades.

Update 2. I have bought 10 volkite cavaliers to go on an mk3 squad as wells as a 10 man mk2 assault squad and an invictarii upgrade to make them locustarus. What little control I thought I still had is now gone. That being said, I finished the party scene just in time for the party last saturday. Didnt get to do alot of the fun things I wanted to but thats what happens when you procrastinate until the last minute... Full Scene Close up of "Slamedbro" with his two bottles, beer helmet and party hat as well as a passed out grot, dead lamp, cake, and party guests (complete with tuxedo tshirt) Close up of Giant And his miller lite box shield

Had a big game today against Orks. Poor guy had no idea how to run the army and went with toys over boyz (even putting almost 500 points into a 5 man bike squad which to me still doesnt sound right). He brought a Stompa which let me bring my shadowsword. We were playing something like 2850 i think. And my shadowsword, "Righteous Bastard", added another Titan kill count when he slayed the stompa turn 2. He conceded later that turn. It was a massacre.

The Birthday Giant turned out great! Lots of fun details in there Your guard looks good too, but I imagine the game was a bit one sided. There ought to be way more greenskins in those pictures for a a game of that size.

Yeah the game was actually zero fun, I just felt bad the entire time. The guy just had zero clue how to make/run orks and by the end of turn 2 half his army was completely destroyed. And i still dont think his points added up right. Theres just no way with orks that that is all he had on the table. I ended up trying to teach him a few things about the game and his army by putting a bunch of his stuff back on the board in better areas with boyz bubble wrapping and had him charge various targets

I can see a Stompa which might be around 800, a Morkanaut, about 300, a deffdread aprox 100. So that's maybe 1200 points and a big mek with a KFF in the stompa is like 85 so lets call that 1300.
You can tool 5 nob bikers up to 440 points without getting really silly. Power klaws and kombi skorchas for each biker, waagh banner, everyone gets an ammo grot, a single bosspole. 1740 before adding the two troops. I can only see a looted Land Raider which is probably a battlewagon of boyz, give the wagon some pricey upgrades for 130 and 20 over tooled 'eavy armoured boyz for 264 and another mob of those to go in the stompa. 2308, pretty bad use of points though.

Yeah that sounds about right with what he had, there were another two trucks behind the the building in the far corner (near the looted Land Raider) and some boyz with either a weird boy or a pain boy in the stompa. Hes apparently been told before about the boys before toys rule but he "doesnt have the money to buy boyz".

Boyz before toyz is a lot less steady than it used to be in 5th, but you do have to pick the right toys and keep in mind what the scale of will give your opponent. He would really have benefited from some Kommandos, or deffkopters hitting your vehicles in turn 2-3, or a big screen of bike units (not expensive nob bikers) that could have rushed forwards and diverted your fire power a bit.
Your collection of tanks is super sweet to look at by the way, and an intimidating fire base, but if you can get a few units across the gap they would have started popping so badly. Do Stompas move 12"?

Oh I know I wasn't running a super competitive force, just kinda what I had in the car. He was playing the stompa like it could move 6" but I have no idea if that's right. Like I said, the guy really had no idea how to play orks. We didn't make it past turn 2 (first half) before he quit.

12" move and could run if he gave up shooting that turn. Did he fire all the rockets on turn one? It would have been 3-5, S8, AP3, BS2 large blasts.

That he did do, missed a few and used the rest of the shots went into the platoon in the corner for some reason. No idea why he targeted them.

Empty is right all SH walkers are 12" Was reading the FAQs ( a lot of paperwork ). Apparently for super heavies you have to declare every gun/ target before rolling a single die. That sounds like a nightmare for Stompa fielders - you'd need to write every gun/ missile and appropriate target and tick off the list. Equally annoying for my future Stormlord wielding plans.

To be fair, if you were playing in true Orky fashion, all you'd need to do is declare "Sod dat git over there" and shoot every gun it has at a single target.
