So my Saturday gaming club is about to start a 6 week campaign. We are using force on force as a rule set. But we are doing it more like a role play. So the board is set up, we as ranger platoon commanders (40ish men each plus Black Hawks or Hummvees) look at the board and the mission and decide what support we need. Such as Cobra Helocopters, tanks, UN back up, air support, Ordnance, weapon upgrades for the black hawks etc. All will effect the view from home and the effects of the media on 'why are we there!' We will then go for a tactic and play it out. The GM controlling the locals, some happy to see us, some unhappy and rioting and some armed militia. Picking who is who and knowing when to open fire is going to be difficult. This will also effect the 'why are we there!' Also, after we start, unforeseen things like road blocks and ambushes will happen so we will have to react and change tactics or we might end up with wounded or Kia, another thing effectin the 'why are we there!' Battle reports to be posted on this thread...More to come... Here's some B&W images of our MDF city on the massive 6x6 board and some of my rangers and Blackhawks:

I've only ever played Tomorrows War, but this looks excellent. Splendid use of the B&W filter as well, looks stunningly like TI footage.

Thanks Lightning! Really appreciate it :-) It's been a nice project so far. Mdf buildings are gcmini.mybigcommerce.com and after making them are sprayed with an undercoat (brown) then a texture paint. The buildings are around £8-10 each As we needed loads of buildings, the ones on the outskirts of town are just cardboard boxes. Undercoat & textured and then I used the MDF building parts as templates to spray black windows on. These areas don't need to be that interactive and are really just for routs that Hummer platoon have to take to get in. Around 20 boxes cost me £5 Models are all www.elhiemfigures.com fab guy who bends over backwards to help. The US rangers and Somalians are really nice. Cost me around £25/30 for my entire platoon of 40 rangers. There's a unarmed Somalian lady model who looks to me as if she has a AK inside her clothing... My guys will have a tough decision if she's about! We also added some plastic Somalians from a company I can't remember ATM. There okay but will only be used if we run out of activated Somalians. The cars are all matchbox type toy cars, sprayed and painted. Some have drivers added are Roof mounted MGs and gunners! The U.S. helicopters and Hummers are from different company's. All 1:72 an cost wise was cheap. I was buying my black hawks for £8 each and my Little birds for just over £5 each. Think the Hummers were £10 for a pack of 2. So all in all, as a group, quite a cheap project with a really impressive and large result.

Love the dense urban terrain provided by the MDF village.

If she has an AK47 under her clothing then its not really a difficult decision.

"looks to me as if she has a AK inside her clothing" if she hasn't me and my rangers are in trouble.... Obviously I'll just put an AK on her body and get away with it...
But with the RolePlay element I can call 'hault' or 'on your belly' or 'get down' and serch her... If she runs towards me after a warning or two I'll let my guys open fire.

AK-47s can always be acquired to back up my instincts.
I've wanted to do something sort-of similar to this using the Tommorows War rules, something like a campaign to reclaim a planet fallen to heresy. Imperial/Inquisitorial forces versus Lost and the Damned.
