I'm not sure if the Commissars would agree with a full retreat; you'd might have to award your opponent killpoints for the squads anyway.. Or place them in ongoing reserves with 1 member less than they left the board with My plan for the match is to hide in the corner fortify the perimeter, and have my officer officers order "bring it down" on the squads shooting at rhinos/razorbacks/vindicators and "suppresive fire" on everyone shooting at infantry.. Hopefully it'll slow them down for the first two turns, which in combination with a fair ammount of chitchat should lead to a decisive turn 3 tie due to a lack of time.

Well he may not be Commissar Cain (and he'd damn sure sound the retreat) but Commissar Vulkavitch is a little more suave than he lets on to be & he's not too fond of inquisitorial review boards asking why the 83rd was firing shots at the Emperor's finest. Better to suffer a bolt round to the back than to attract the curiosity of the inquisition. We've had a few too many... concerns for the inquisition already. I've already told you too much!

Blood Angels die like everything else. Your officers must show their oratory prowess and ensure every guardsman is firing his lasgun in tempo with the nearly fanatical reciting of the Litany of Accuracy from page one hundred and nine of their Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer. Though your enemies be angels of death, their metal steeds are weak and flimsy, surely fine target practice for your company's autocannon section. And despite their resilience, not even the Emperor's Finest driven by the Red Rage can withstand the fearsome destructive power of the humble Leman Russ.
Take heart, Captain, for the battle must first be won there. With the knowledge that the Holy Emperor of Terra is at your back, you will lead your men to victory, or die in His service, defending His realms from the encroaching enemies at His door.
Also like, pinning is pretty awful, especially against all that high Ld. I'd probably just order FRFSRF, the weight of fire will help much more.

The Iron Infidel: thanks for the peptalk FRFSRF will definitely be ordered, however I intend to run two combined squads (20 & 30) split over two platoons, which will allow my CCS to order my two autocannon HWSs around; if they run out of vehicles to shoot at, they will probably use "suppresive fire" on infantry in an attempt to slow them down a turn. Ordering FRFSRF on a command squad with a couple of lasguns, or my veteran squad seems like a bit of a waste. It'll al depend on how the battle plays out though, so I'll just have to wait and find out. I'll report in tomorrow with a batrep to show you all how it went.

Hello everyone,
I've picked up some second-hand armoured support for my footsloggers this afternoon:
-3 Leman Russ Battle Tanks, hull Lascannon, Heavy Bolter sponsons -1 Leman Russ Battle Tank, hull Heavy Bolter -1 Leman Russ Demolisher, hull Lascannon, Plasma sponsons
4 of them are built from the old kit (the demolisher cannon is metal, and so are the plasma sponsons) and only the Russ with the Hull heavy bolter is built from the new kit.
But under the current rules, firing the main guns on these badboys would force the rest of the guns to snapshot... So I'm questioning the usefullness of the current upgrades, however I'm not sure what to do with these guys when it comes to re-fitting them. The tanks I have now also happen to be amongst the priciest in the codex even before the sponsons, and I was thinking a slightly cheaper source of AV 14 could come in handy.
The easiest option would be to knock off the sponsons, clean up the sides, and install the Bolters that came out of the sponsons into the hull.
The other option would be to pick up a couple of different turret/sponson weapons online and try to build some different variants out of the ones I got. The problem here is that: A) I'm not sure if the weapons from the new kit will fit in the turrets (with a bit of trimming perhaps?) B) I've got no clue as to what variant I build them as
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

Leave them as they are - the old school pattern is a classic.
You'll probably find the single LRBT with hull heavy bolter is the most efficient though.
The turrets will transfer guns, it is a bit tricky finding suitable matching parts for the era of tanks you have but they are out there.
