How’s the project going?

It's been going alright, I've been playing around with some weathering powders on the bases which is fun but it's not quite what I want yet. Other than that I still need to paint a few lenses/visors and maybe a company marking on the empty shoulderpad.

Nice one!
Every time I use weathering powders it ends up looking nuts!
So I’m impressed and looking forward to seeing your achievements!

I've not tried anything to fancy with it, so far just trying to make things look dusty with.. dust colored pigment is going well enough. Just before I was done painting the infantry squads I decided to add; a platoon commander with a plasma pistol, a plasma command squad, and a plasma SWS, since plasma seems to be all the rage for guard this edition. But I finished painting them first, which I consider proof of maturing as a hobbyist and celebrated by planning to paint several other units..
The SWS allows me to swap some things around and have some more mobile infantry squads with Heavy Bolters as back-up which is kind of nice. So I might organize future platoons in a similar way.

Yeah, can’t go wrong with some Plasma!
Sounds a solid plan so you can add the Plasmaguns to other units where needed.
Looking forward to seeing your finished platoons.

Yeah it seems like every other army is marines of some kind, so some plasma is sure to come in handy. I'm thinking about trying some OSL on the plasma but my experiments have been unsuccessful so far.

Sounds good.
Like everything in life, it’s all about practice!
That said I’m too chicken to do OSL. For my Krieg I just do gold coils!
Good luck!

After a long time away from 40k I decided it was time to give my guardsmen some love, in the form of some Armageddon Basilisks So the past week or two I've been cleaning/bending/filing/filling/glueing my fingers together, etc. to get these things ready. I still need to put them together but everything should fit and I went ahead and painted the interior parts

Glad to see you back on the Guard again!
I heard those kits were a nightmare to build.
They look really good so far can’t wait for the finished product!

yeah they are a total pain in the ass, everything barely fits together if the parts are straight... but they look so cool it probably worth the hassle

The ends definitely justify the means when it comes to Forgeworld stuff!
I’ll wait (impatiently) for the finished articles!

I did assemble them, but I'm leaving for the airport in about 2 hours so I'm afraid you will have to wait for a bit longer. Initially I was hoping to finish them before the end of the year, but I'm not going to rush them.

Theyre such a pain to put together and fit/refit but the finished product...imagine I did a chefs kiss.
