Hi IG(AM)MB! It's been a looooooooooooong time since I have posted anything, although I have been lurking in the shadows... Such is life that I have been mostly working for the past few years, along with family stuff and dog things and such. However last week I ventured to my local GW, now Doncaster, that I had never been to before. I picked up the awesome new Deathwatch Overkill box, and while I was in there my 6 year old, Charlie, took a liking to some Necrons. Well, it is his 7th birthday next week... we spent an hour or two clipping them out and putting them together, then I showed Charlie how to spray undercoat them and drybrush them. He wants them painted in the Mephrit Dynasty scheme, which is fair enough, although I personally would have done them all rusty and decaying. In addition, I have also agreed to do some basic OSL stuff on them so they look all glowy, as in the background they were star destroyers, and it'll mke them a little bit cooler then the next silver robots. I've painted the majority of them, and tonight Charlie and I are going to base them up. nothing too spectacular, just standard wasteland style bases. More pics to follow!

I have indeed risen, not unlike the Necrons after a 60 million year slumber...

I must confess, I was slightly disappointed to see that this project was not a trio of female Necrons, but getting your kid into the hobby is great. I was around that age when my dad got me my first models to build.

... I was slightly disappointed to see that this project was not a trio of female Necrons... Don't get me thinking about making a triumvirate of converted matriarchal overlords... I don't think they'd be particularly angelic though! During shooting season we usually hang out going beating on local farms and stuff, although now the season is over we don't do that at the weekends. He's always enjoyed having casual plau with tanks and deff dreads, and can play quite complicated board games very well. We've done a few small 500 point pitched battle scenarios with basic rules which he has enjoyed, and we played a small game with his 'crons the other day which he won against Space Marines (he rolleed lots of 6s for Gauss....). I've ordered the Start Collecting Necrons box for another squad of Warriors and the Triarch Stalker, so that'll probably be Sunday's activity sorted A bit of a crazy box, as we only wanted the Warriors and the Stalker, and save £2 and get another Overlord, which I might paint and Ebay...

So I managed to get some (rather bad) pics today of Charlie's Necrons. He did all the drybrushing and most of the basing himself, I did the OSL effects and the base edges. His 'first' warrior and then a group shot of five of the ten that we did. I converted some 'damaged' 'Crons to represent Reanimation Protocols (and because he wanted 10 in a squad and not twelve) Scarabs (need edge highlights on the green) Overlord with extra bloody base We're now doing the Triarch Stalker, although it's taking a while...

Welcome to the glorious cess pit that is South Yorkshire Nice to see the bambino's following in daddies filthy, xeno footsteps :)The crons look wickedly evil.. More so than the Green ones. I think little Charlies commendable painting skills deserve a monolith phalanx daddy Good to see you about mate, it's been far too long
