Hi everyone, getting back into the game again after a bit of a break. Dug out my old mordians and are currently stripping and painting them up.
Will get some pictures up once I've finished some.
Is there any shockers I need to be aware of since early 6th or are we still good with massed infantry, heavy weapons and tanks?
Thanks everyone.

Welcome back,
I've always had a soft spot for Mordians, so I look forward to the pictures.
The biggest difference from 6th is the way the game is played objective-wise. The Maelstrom mission (which most people play) use randomly generated objectives that allow players to score objective points during the game.
These objectives award points when they are completed, and can range from killing specific units (kill a monster/vehicle & score a point, or kill 3 and get d3 points) to holding objectives on the table. The "capture objectice 'x'" cards are very common which means mobility (and mobile troops) are very important.
So whilst building an army you need to keep in mind that you will have to be able to reach any part of the table in order to score points: the quicker you get there, the more points you can score.
Formations are becoming more important (ours are in the Mont'ka campaign book) and some are really powerfull. They will add benefits to the units included, and offer an alternative FoC.
You can either use an "all formation"-army (often called decurion) which is almost impossible for the IG since our troop-formations are really expensive. But you can also add a formation to your regular army; so you could for example fill your heavy support with tanks, and then add a formation with artillery (or more tanks). The same goes for flyers, superheavies, elites, infantry (in case you want more than the FoC allows), etc.
Other than that; some of the rules have changed when it comes to shooting, cover, blasts/templates, etc. But it'd be quicker to read up on those in the rulebook.

Wow, thanks for the reply. A lot to take in there, so......I need some decent mobility at least. Is the standard force org still valid or is it all formations now?

The standard force organisation chart is still valid. It is still the default chart but it is becoming less and less compulsory. You can also take as many of them as you can afford which means that if you can't find a formation that suits you you can still get extra fast attack, or heavy support slots by taking additional troops and H.Qs for a second chart.
Flyers have just had a shake up in rules but not everyone is sure they want to use the new rules.
Grav weapons are the new fancy weapon to have.
Gargantuan Monstrous creatures an super heavy walkers roam the table.
You might find more strength D weapons around now.

Coolio, sounds like the best plan is to get them painted and get some games under my belt.

Coolio, sounds like the best plan is to get them painted and get some games under my belt. You can't really go wrong with a plan like that Let us know how it goes. One more change we forgot to mention: scoring & objective secured. Essentially all units can now score points by claiming objectives, troops are just better at it because they have the Objective Secured rule.
