Good morning IGMB!
My name is Dave, I've been into 40k since I was about 10, and started with GW's LotR range before that.At 22 now, I've had my fair experience as an aspiring collector, Gamer and modeller.
But, starting at a young age, in a relatively poor family, I found myself scratching and saving all my pocket money to buy my expensive miniatures, but, along with this, I also aspired to have some nice scenery to pitch my battles on with my friends. Growing up, I was envious of my friends, whose much better off families bought them pre made terrain, and the best I could muster were rough, cut-out, cardboard Ruins.
Recently, I've been looking at starting a new Guard force, and to kill time until pay day, I've been looking at terrain tutorials on YouTube, and I have stumbled upon something that would have been a Gold mine to me! A YouTuber by the name of Commissar Gamza, has a tutorial series named 'Terrain from Trash'. The end product of these builds, is quite impressive, considering the insanely low budget you would need to make them. The Majority of materials, is household waste. Genius! For any new, young (or old vets), I would STRONGLY recommend taking a look. I will provide a link.
Also, in the next couple of months, I plan to start using these tutorials myself to create some nice Desert Warfare terrain, and will provide some guides, to show you, you don't need to be a professional, grizzled, veteran of the 41st millenium to get an adequate finish on table top terrain!
I take no credit for these tutorials, that all goes down to Commissar Gamza. But, I do hope these tutorials will give our fledglings here, an edge I never had getting into the hobby.
Dave
