Good Morning Guardsmen and Women,
So lately, I have been mentioning I am planning on building a new Guard army. The above is my unveiling. Now, I was planning on doing this in a more spectacular fashion, straight out with armour and what not. The whole shock and awe thing... But, last night I was talking with Brigadier-General Foster, and came upon a rather tasty deal with him, even though it has altered my initial plans for the Regiment. I was planning on using only Victoria Lambs miniatures to create this Army, but, this would cost me an arm and a leg..
On Monday, I'm going to be picking up 30 Troops and 2 heavy weapons teams from him. And this will be the start of my new Preatorian Regiment. But, I do plan to heavily convert them, in a way they would deviate somewhat, from what most people recognise Preatorians to be like.
First up, The 196th Preatorian 'Black Watch' Veteran Company:
Regarded as some of the Hardiest, most stalwart Soldiers within the Imperium of man, the 'Black Watch' are both respected and feared, and rightly so. These men bear a grim resolve, and a sound tactical knowledge of warfare in all it's bloody forms.
They are typically recognised on the battlefield, by their Kilts and Pith helmets. Donning simple fabric over their legs, rather than protective flak or carapace, fitted armouring. This earns them respect through their disregard to the dangers of the enemy, and the environment around them, no matter how inhospitable.
Most notably recognised for their cleansing of the traitor Guard regiments on the world of Medusa V, these men have time, and time again, proven the unwavering loyalty to the Emporer, in displays of holding the line until either they, or the enemy, are wiped out to the last man.
Onto the 185th Praetorian Hussars!
Seen as a 'liability' by their foot slogging comrades, the 185th Hussars, are not entirely Cavalry to be accurate, they are a Preatorian Armoured Core, utilising the finest Tanks, and Vehicles the Emporer has to offer, to grind the bodies of their foes into the dirt, beneath armoured tracks. Galacticly renowned for their bravery, these men represent the pinnacle of the Guards Tank Companies, and are even held in great esteem my Cadia's Knight-Commander Pask, as "Some of the damn finest men I've served along side!.. Even if they are a little 'prim and propper'."
Recognised by their blue fatigues, and Bearskin helmets, they may not look to fierce to the enemy, but, when the ordanance starts to rain down, the enemy learns to hide.. If they get the chance..
Finally, we have, the 73rd Preatorian Line Regiment.
A somewhat infamous Regiment within the Imperial Guard.. These men have a reputation for being wiped out to the last man. Within the past 300 years, they have been butchered in the face of overwhelming odds, no less than 24 times, never flinching, or falling back. While the men rarely return to receive their decorations, if they did, they would be more highly decorated than most Storm Trooper regiments.
Another factor that makes these men so infamous, and have have such a high mortality rate, is the fact that their Officers, point blank, refuse to duck, or move out of the way of enemy fire. Believing their valour and bravery inspires the men more, than any speech or Commissar could. Typically seen as a 'Line filler' in the 185th, these men are called in when the 'Black Watch' are spread too thinly, and the combined actions of the two, often carries the day in a spectacular fashion!
