Hi all,
Just got the Adeptus Astartes codex, and I must confess, I haven't read it properly yet.. But, as a general, how do Apothecary's function in 7th? Do they still confer buffs such as FnP? Always been a fan, and I'd love to get a few down the line, but, I don't plan on doing so if there is no point..

The short version is yes, but FnP is now 5+ base as opposed to the 4+ I remember it being back in 5th Ed. They come standard with a Bolt Pistol & CCW. Since they're stuck with the command squad, you can either run the HQ as an escort/beatstick/meatshield for your captain or other HQ (the Chaplain can now take an HQ squad, either as a bespoke formation or as part of the battle company/demi-company, or chuck 'em in a transport, load the squad up with meltas or flamers, and use them as slightly more durable suicide squads or as a fire brigade. There's some pretty spectacular cheeseball stuff you can do with Iron Hands and apothacaries too, but it's expensive, since you need formations and a chapter relic to pull it off to maximum effect.
If you're blood angels, you've got Sanguinary Priests, which are nice because they give that FnP to any unit they join. That's why I have one to shove in with the Nipple Guard.

Nipple-tastic!! I used to have a Sanguinary priest back when I collected BA's (My very first played army) back when they got re-released. I used to be on some BA forum back in the day, though I do believe its been closed for some time now.. sadly.. They had a lot of nasty tactics up on there. Thanks for the run down Reds, much appreciated buddy

No worries. 1d4chan has a pretty good 7E Marine tactica that discusses all the units with a good degree of frankness. Obviously not or the innocent, but I can send you a link if you want.
Look into the Angels of Death supplement, too. It has specific warlord traits for the Crimson Fists and some snazzy formations. Since Crimson Fists lack their own chapter tactics, you're going to be using the ones for the Fists, if memory serves. Load up on devastators.

You're spot on with that Reds, all successor Chapters use the Chapter Tactics from there first founding Chapter. I believe Crimson Fists inherit Bolter Drill and Siege Masters. Devastator Squads with Tank Hunter and +1 on results resolved against Buildings if memory serves correctly, without booting the desktop..
As for angels of Death, I'll definitely be looking into that.. Having painted up a fist today, I've found that I quite enjoy the basic colour scheme, and enjoy the finished result, even if my models aren't brilliantly painted. I do like the scheme a lot. Going to enjoy having them. Also Pedro has some nasty abilities too from what I've seen..
All in all.. I think them Greenskins is gonna hurt dude.
If you could drop me a link to the topic on 1d4chan, that would be brilliant buddy.

CF's do use Imperial Fist chapter tactics. You re-roll bolter shots that rolled a 1, you get a bonus vs buildings and you get tankhunters. Cheminhaler uses it as his go to chapter tactic for his Soul Drinkers, so he can give you the skinny on how it plays.

If you could drop me a link to the topic on 1d4chan, that would be brilliant buddy. Sent via PM. Also worth thinking about; In Angels of Death, Fists get Assault Centurions as Fast Attack and Dev Centurions as elites. Also? With their Decurion formation (Sternhammer strike force or whatever), units in the formation reroll ALL misses from bolt weapons, not just 1s.

Did Matt Ward write this supplement by any chance?

No,, but his spirit is alive and well.
Using the supplement you can get an Iron Hands chaptermaster with 2+/2++ save, eternal warrior, T 5, FnP +2 (with some luck), and a chance to gain back lost wounds.
It costs an arm and a leg and he still dies to D weapons but in principle he Shouldn't Be A Thing That Exists if we're shooting for something approaching balance.
