Not sure if I should put this here or just the general 40k section (seeing as the games are very similar and indeed compatible). But I was wondering who all on here plays? What legions? What are your thoughts on the game? If you guys couldn't tell, I'm on a huge 30k kick right now, especially after discovering that nearly all of black library's audio books are on YouTube for free. So while painting in the last three weeks, I've gotten through Horus Rising, False Gods, Galaxy in Flames, Flight of the Eisenstein, Fulgrim, and am now half way through Mechanicum. It gets me so much more motivated to paint when I'm listening to the action.

I've played a few games to help a friend get ready for a tournament, but I don't own an army myself. So this is from my limited experience + hearsay:
- the legions are very well balanced (mechanicum.. not so much) because they all draw most of their units from the same pool. The legion specific units add flavour without adding to much imbalance.
- There are a lot of ways you can build an army (FoC) and they all seem valid.
- 14 year old's can't afford it, (hell I'm 27 and I can't really afford it) so the playerbase is much more mature.
- people put a lot more effort into their armies, and I've been told it is rare to face an unpainted army.

The 14 yearr old part was definitely an unexpected happy surprise I must say. The unpainted army part is mostly true too, but hell if Im spending that much money on something, you damn well better believe its going to be painted.
