At this point, it looks like Primaris are a new army. They get all of their own vehicles and little/no crossover with Marines. Hell, if they were just called the Adeptus Primaris and the power armour looked different there would be less fuss over them.

Hell, if they were just called the Adeptus Primaris and the power armour looked different there would be less fuss over them. That would have been a lot better. I think they wanted to capitalize on their players with "complete" Marine collections though, as well as make "IP Theft-Proof" marines, with a 2+ rerollable save against Chapterhouse Studios.

Yeah I think in the fluff in the book you have the primaries who reinforce the chapters but then also the rest who are basically a huge legion called (I think) the unnumbered brothers? Who are a mix of primaries bred from all gene seeds, in the book it jumps forward in time and this "legion" is dissolved into the chapters completely after the indomitus crusade. I'm not sure we're the rule book fluff starts.

Just had a look at the contents list for the new AM book from Forgeworld. OMG it looks amazing! Death Korps, Elysians, Traitor Guard plus all the Datasheets for the whole Forgeworld range! At £15 can't really go wrong. No release date yet but I'm hoping they don't sell out too quick.

Things I really hope for in that book:
- Leman Russ Annihilator being reasonable. It could be the best variant for tank hunting. I have a couple of exterminators that I converted from HWS bits. It would be easy to swap out the autocannons for lascannons. - Vulture Gunship. I really hope it gets +1 to hit ground targets. It would suit the roll as a ground attacker, as 5+ to hit would be horrible. I can see it being pretty expensive though. A vector dancer rule would be nice too. Maybe I am hoping for too much for a unit that gets 40 punisher shots... - Death Korps list. If it looks fun I could always run my Guard as dkok. - Death riders. I almost certainly will run my rough riders as these. It suits the cold ones too, as they are not exactly normal horses. - Mars Alpha Pattern Leman Russ Vanquisher. We will see if they can keep that lovely co-axial stubber. That would be so nice. Maybe the alpha patterns would have more wounds or something? I love the one I own and want to field it, which isn't a great idea with codex rules.
Looking forward to it. I pretty much want to field the Vulture in every battle, as I fell in love with the idea of a single CAS working with a ground force after reading Flesh and Iron. Too bad that book had plagarism problems.

Ok right off topic but was thinking what's happened to abbadon then, not been mentioned since early in gathering storm, this then made me think, his sword drachyn is the 5th and final crone sword! Makes sense I think, and even more interesting is walst the primarchs are having their spat that abbadon and vect might team up against the space elves of death. Could make for an interesting story arc!

Too bad that book had plagarism problems. I was hoping for a Vector Dancer equivalent myself. Then, it would appear that the weapons on a model can fire in any direction, so long as they're in range of the target. That's what I was told in Kingston GW today. So planning the moves of a flyer shouldn't be as difficult as it was before. Not sure I'm happy with the "shoot anywhere" situation, I think I'll end up thinking "that Vindicator is pointing the other way, I'll just creep up behind it" only to have it smash me from it's behind. Just thinking about flyers, I haven't read the mission scenarios yet or victory conditions. Is it possible to Win a game using flyers alone ? Considering that we don't actually have to take any troops at all if we don't want to.

What about Guilliman being kind of friendly with Cypher? Does this attract the attention/ wrath/ impaling tendencies of the Dark Angels?
Shirley they can't just let it slide, can they, Cassandra?

Well Cypher loves being captured and tortured by them every few years. Maybe it's some kind of sado-masochistic thing but now Guilliman is involved in the love triangle.

interesting twist I think the whole religion thing and the oppression of it giving strength to the chaos gods, with Guiliman and the space marines caught in the middle fighting both sides.

Tried 8th edition briefly yesterday. Veteran squads are 6 power points and Stormies are 2 power points, so 10 veterans = 15 stormies. In conclusion Conscripts and normal infantry squads are a better choice for guard until the codex gets released but obviously the points for equipment will change, so while it might be better to have every option under the sun now, it won't be like that in 6 months or whenever codex astral militantes is released.
Characters can't join squads and IG characters are available without command squads or with but if without then they can't join squads and have no leadership bubble effect that I could see. It's ... different....

Does anyone happen to know the carrying capacity for Trukks in 8th? I'm trying to assign green butts to seats and if Trukks still carry 12, that makes a difference.

It's still 12 mate. Models in mega armour or jump packs take up two seats.

But Primaris can't go in drop pods because they're too good for midget-man marine gear.

Yes Forge World redid the T/hawk so no chance of that in plastic ever, unfortunately.
So the new marines are getting all the new tanks and flyers, no more lurve for the old school Astartes. They're being thrown on the trash heap like the old Mk 1 thunder warriors.
