Hi,
Thought I'd start a thread about this excellent game since I'm loving it.
Managed to get my first victory with my SS Panzer Division after plenty of crushing defeats against medium scottish deck on Point du hoc.
Slowly grasping the need for better overlap of units and the roles suited to each!

Glad you're enjoying it.
I'm really liking how the units mesh together, and how important morale is. There's been complaints about the power of artillery, but that's sort of fitting, since it was the leading cause of casualties in western Europe, if memory serves.
French armored are allegedly the next deck to be released.

what kind of game is this? It sounds interesting, especially with my (and everyone elses) fascination with WWII.

It's an RTS for the PC, you can find it on steam. It's much more macro level than, say, Company of Heroes, though, you can command large numbers of tanks and troops. It's a bit like Supreme Commander in that you're zoomed out most of the time (although not quite as far as SupCom), but you can zoom in right to ground level to watch the action. It's made by Eugen, who did the Wargame series, and published by Paradox. www.steeldivisiongame.com/

So I've now beaten the medium difficulty Scottish on all 3 maps, trying to work out if I should play as the Scots vs my SS, or try using some different divisions entirely... you may have noticed I don't like changing too many variables at once!
Finding a 2000 point conquest game of 30 mins is a really nice set up, though am getting hungry for a longer larger game.
I like the fact that if you have nothing holding an area / flank the front line will advance massively into that territory, even if there are no enemy units in it, this kinda helps balance the lack of stealth tactics due to the persistent blue/red marker overlay.
the only snag I see is the falling back pathfinding which seems a little weird sometimes.

I've done a few against four of six medium AI, but I think you give the AI more well rounded decks than I normally do.

I played a few more games last night, so I'm up to five now. I've only been playing the one map but I'm getting a good game vs the medium axis starter decks and beating them up more than losing.

If I win I tailor the opponents deck to better plug the holes I exploited in the last game, this tends to make things get tough pretty quick, as their deck becomes specialised against the deck I am fielding.

With all the Frenchman you could possibly ever want. Edit: I just fought six hard AI french decks with the 21st Panzer, and ended up with some of the most horrifyingly bloody tank battles I've ever fought in any PC game ever. The King Tigers saved me, as I was able to push them into the enemy flank and knock them apart at long range. Two ended up with 19 Sherman kills apiece. I ended up with over 60,000pts in kills, with just under 15,000 in losses. I traded three enemy armored divisions for one panzer division, essentially.

You're doing better than Tread and I. We got minced by the AI.

It's all about decks, you guys are certainly playing against harder ones. I rely on the number of AI to make up the challenge.

716 infantry is surprisingly good; I'm having fantastic fun with it in 1v1s.
The Guards Armoured are shockingly bad. Just. Don't. Unvetted/1 vet Cromwells are simply not good enough in A, and they certainly can't hold up to something like Lehr or even their historical foes, the 17th SS, in B to C.
Windhunde looks to be amazing at early-game armoured warfare.

Orren was Guards in that snip I posted. He burned through half a division trying to push up a road through some forest, despite covering smoke, artillery, and air support. It was painful.

Well, they can't all be the French 2nd Armored...

Artillery micro, smoke screens, and French Bias all work together wonderfully.

getting closer to beating the french deck.
playing 1 vs 1 hard AI on pegasus bridge with 5000 victory points and no time limit.
I think whats tough is the combination of M7's, M10's and the Spitfires, they support the M4's and D9's really well, I can claw back mid-game losses but not fast enough!
loads of fun though!

Which deck are you using Tread? I've just started trying the Canadians.
