First, please be aware that posting the individual points costs of wargear is frowned on. Admittedly in the age of Battlescribe I'm not sure it's that important, but until The Great Woz says otherwise, please refrain from doing it.

Now that my official Mod duties are dispensed with, how welcome is proxy? Are you confined to what you've built or can you say "This is actually an Executioner" or something?

- I would strongly recommend picking a regimental doctrine, unless you plan to choose based on what you're fighting. Based on this list, I'd suggest Cadian for the rerolls and the tank order.

- I would put Pask in the punisher. Thanks to Grinding Advance, that's 40 turret shots hitting on 2's. If Pask gives himself the right order or you play Cadians, that becomes hitting on 2+, rerolling 1s. It's the next best choice to running him in an Executioner.

- I personally feel that your infantry is too static. It's very tempting to sit back and shoot as Guard, but at some point you do have to make a dash for objectives or at least try to force your opponent to react instead of just trying to blast him off the board as he runs about. I'd drop the HW teams from two squads. You may also want to consider flamers for the mobile squads instead of plasma. Plasma is absolutely fine, but flamers are good for screening units and objective grabbers, since they autohit on overwatch. I'm also not sold on Voxcasters, but again, that's me.

- I very much like Bullgryns, but there are two important considerations here. First, they're footslogging in this list, which means they'll be either shot to ribbons, or confined to the backfield waiting for a counter charge. Second, that's a little over 12.5% of your points tied up in 3 models that are going to draw a lot of fire and who's protection isn't as great as you might think. Remember, even losing one will really hurt the overall squad's effectiveness rather badly. You also have to consider what you can get instead. A basilisk, 3 mortar sections and a company commander in a Spearhead detachment (giving you 2 more orders and a spare CP, etc. You could even add a second infantry battalion for that if you shifted an infantry squad and the Primaris to the new detachment. When you're looking at a thousand points, you really need to wring everything you can from them.

- Again, this is just me, but my personal crusade is to prevent anyone from building a leman russ with a hull lascannon on anything but a Vanquisher or Annihilator ever again. It's more useful now that you can shoot at different targets, but it's still one shot with a 50% chance of hitting, swingy damage, and a chance of being invalidated by an invulnerable save. As with all things Guard (and most things in 8th), more is better. Run lascannons in heavy weapon squads. You get more shots and can take advantage of infantry orders. This is HUGE if you run Cadians, since they can reroll ALL failed hits when under orders if they didn't move. Point for point, they're some of the most efficient and effective tank killers in the game (...I say, having built mine as missile teams for purely fluffy reasons). That also keeps your Russ cheap, so you can squeeze more stuff in the list.

- Lastly, one final note on the Russ- if you run Cadian, their special order helps you out with the battlecannon's D6 shots. Not bad with paired with an order from Pask or the Cadian rerolls.

This still leaves you about 43pts to play with. You can hand out vox casters or run a hull lascannon on the Russ, but my recommendation would be a second Company Commander. Leave the warlord trait and relic on the first one and hide him back with your HW teams, and give the power sword and bolt pistol to the second and run him forward with the mobile infantry squads to issue orders.

Oh i’m sorry about posting all the wargear. Like I said I’m new and missed this on the forum. Won’t happen again. No proxies unfortunately but I have other stuff and I’m rush painting some more lascannons atm. Also I missed to add that I was running cadians so it works well with what you said.

Going to a tourney is an excellent way to learn: you usually play 3 matches in a day so you get a lot of practice. And no one is going to let you get away with doing something the wrong way because you are new.

The revised list looks good, but those lascannon teams are going to be juicy target for your opponent. Which isn't a bad thing, but something to keep in mind. Stick them in cover and try to buff their save with psychic powers if you get the chance. It doesn't take much to kill a heavy weapons squad, and most opponents will know this.
