"The spirits command me to do this!"
My gut reaction when any of my characters say that before doing something incredibly stupid is, "this is gonna suck."
Anyone else have similar DD moments?

Uhmm.. does 'I/he loved him like a son' count? It was the main motivation in a (thankfully short) campaign revolving around a minotaur in search of a stolen/kidnapped goat.
Most of the campaigns I've taken part in have either ended quickly, or had players switch in and out at frequent intervals. So there was never a whole lot of time to developt a catch all "let do something dumb" phrase.

Sorry, not D&D; Darkest Dungeon. It's what you might get if H.P. Lovecraft wrote a module for Dungeons & Dragons.

I can't remember the line but I had a great moment in my last game. Was on the final boss in stygian mode, Dismas and Reynauld were giving it their all but then Reynauld hit 100 stress. However, he went virtuous and screamed something about the light, then proceeded to kick the boss's teeth in. Was a really cool moment. This was after the Vestal went masochistic and killed herself, the only time I have seen that happen.
Oh, and Stygian mode is pretty hard. There may have been a few save scums along the way. I'm thinking I'll just play normal next time, although I'm waiting for the DLC to go on sale.

I've heard good things about Color of Madness, but I can't say I was fond of Crimson Court.
Maybe, now that I've actually beaten the game once, I can come back and appreciate it properly, but the best thing to come out of that one was the Flagellant class. There's just something about having a character who you want to be half-dead and stark raving mad that works well thematically.

Ah, never meddled with that It will drive you bloody mad, like pulling your hair out mad. Does anyone have a good way to level your guys up? I keep sending doomed to fail, not properly supplied parties in on lower level quests. But they don't seem to be leveling when I fail the quest, don't really see them gaining any experience. Loot seems to be miserable in gains too. Damn this game is so friggin' maddening! Miserable abismal grind of hopeless attrition! all is lost!!!

This God forsaken game, grrr... I just, can't seem to find a healthy way to grind for XP in it. I can gain a little financially by throwing hero's lives away and just sending new fool's into the hopeless pit, but it's not really all that great of a gain.
Also, this game literally has the worst item's for your hero's to equipt. Like to hell with who ever thought I would want a dead rat, why the frig would I equipped my lepper with a charm that does +1 to speed and -4 to dodge? who the hell thought that would be a good idea?
Am I the only one who equips hero's who are worthless retards with the item's in order to lower their odds of making it out of the next dungeon crawl alive? Because that's a really healthy thing to do for an adventuring party right? Equipped them with the lamest, most useless, debilitating items ever right?
I love how I'm like "hey, this is an RPG I'll just send my favorite Crusader to the black smiths for a weapon's upgrade!" and then the game immediately sends a super monster to predator assassinate the guy you just upgraded and rapes the healer so she never walks the same before sending what's left of your party out of the Warren's to explain why they came back after the first and only battle of that week.

I usually found taking a good mix of the class specific items and the ancestor items was the way to go. Things like +scouting, dodge, dmg and then suitable special things (like a jester having + stress heal) really helped. I also tried to take an antiquarian whenever I thought it wouldn't be a super hard dungeon, as the extra money is really good.
I did use the wiki a bit, but mainly for the curio interaction. Oh, and knowing how much XP missions gave. If a character needs only 3 to level up, no use sending them on a really long mission to get it.
Finally, knowing how many supplies to take is the key. You want to take enough that you don't run out of food/torches/keys or whatever, but have to save money by not going mad.

You want to take enough that you don't run out of food/torches/keys or whatever, but have to save money by not going mad. Yeah, I can't figure out how much supplies to bring on any quest ever. Send my A squad into the Ruins fully supplied they come out after one battle to report the Warrior died already, the Healer got raped in the same battle and now has the black AIDS and a crippled leg which gives her a -4 Billion to dodging traps...oh and she's now a ruins phobe so she won't go back in ever without suffering bonus stress, the secondary healer i sent in to back up the primary healer got infected with the blood curse and the thief I sent in to help them with all the traps as gotten Kleptomania and stole all the treasure I sent them in with. ..like wise I'll send in a bunch of no name scrubs to starve to death in the disease infested Warren's held by a small army of Pig men & they find an item to sterilize an all you can eat buffet with enough food to feed the entire town for a month..& for some reason I want to throw the controller at the TV because they lived through the quest, when I sent them in there to die. The Antiquarian is the most worthless piece of trash class ever thought up in any game ever. The extra gold is nice, the extra items you can't do anything with but sell for extra gold is nice but I can't keep any of them alive. They all die because they are weak and they suck at every battle field role because they are not to be brought into battle which I guess is a great reason the developer's of the game thought you SHOULD bring them into battle. I find selling almost all of my items is the way to go or giving them to characters that I hate and want to die really helps.
