When is it worth using transports? In fact, are they worth using? Im writing a couple of lists ready for an escalation league and weighing up my options. I do have a fair few Chimeras, kitted up they are around the 85 points mark (added pintle weapons, change of turret weapons etc). But I just feel I would get more use out spending points on two Armoured Sentinels rather than one Chimera.
Also, I feel that I lose out on gaining ground as troops have to disembark before the transport moves. Or is they a tactic im missing out on here?

There is a special detachment in the 'Vigilus Defiant' book called the "Emperor's Blade Assault Company" that has two unique stratagem that help give transports a bit of a boost; - one lets you disembark a unit at the end of the movement phase - the other lets a vehicle fire overwatch on a 4+ when a nearby infantry unit is charged
It also let you take a warlord trait that allows an officer to issue commands from inside a vehicle without having to pay CP to do so.
As for when they are worth it.. I think that with the price drop the Chimera is fairly useful again as a unit in general; they are pretty tough for the ammount of points they cost. Mainly I would take them to get special weapons into position in relative safety, and/or use them as budget hellhounds.
Also all transports are now effectively assault vehicles; which is something I kept forgetting for quite some time.
