The first officer has Ork legs? Interesting preacher. The pigeon looks like its trying to get away from the fire and the eviscerator but is tied down by the parchment scrolls. These are objective marker statues that were bits box conversions. I wanted to paint them verdigris but did it in reverse with a greenish basecoat and a metallic drybrush, rather than effect paint on metallic. I'll do the stories for the first three statues and as it seems to be thread tradition, mediocrehobbyist89 can do the stories for the other three.

I will have to add you to the back if the queue... I'm trying to decide if I'm going to post my next guardsmen. He's based on early ww1 austro-hungarian soldiers but he's a bit grey colour wise. Also is that first statue wearing an Adrian helmet? They just might be my favourite military headgear.

Actually can see the model better on my laptop. It's a brodie not an adrian. Still very cool. I'm noticing details that I didn't pick up on my phone screen. Very nice. ANwya to my duties.
emptyhat a bit of fluff for your guy.
"Unknown Junior officer from the 76th Landskrona Light Infantry Regiment, seen here clearing the last of a Hrud infestation on the planet Kylon IV. By the end of the campaign this unit had become accustomed to the close quarter nature of the sewer and tunnel fighting. It is worthwhile noting that this indvidual has a bionic arm - his original one was likely lost in close combat with one of the xenos enemies. It was common for these soldiers to charge at theiir foe will little regard for their own safety.
The habitable parts of the planet Landskrona are a mountianous wilderness with a gravitational pressure that is slightly stronger then that found on Terra and most civilised worlds. As a result the people of this planet are generally shorter and stockier then those found elsewhere. Some even go so far as to say their arms are almost as thick as that of a Space Marine. The lower regions of the planet are uninhabitable, though whether this is due to body crushing pressure or the thickness of the oxygen down there has yet to be extensively tested. The mountain tops are also home to large carniverous beasts with whom the Landskronians are in constant battle. The men and women that survive to adulthood are therefore tough and resourceful - generally possessing a boisterous sense of fatalistic glee. They can prove quite unruly and many a commissar has struggled to keep them under control. One of their most common misdemeanors is their refusal to wear helmets in battle. They instead wear their distinctive leather hats. This however is an issue that is nearly always ignored."

Painted! "Unknown Junior officer from the 76th Landskrona Light Infantry Regiment" I messed around a bit with the power sword and tried it with both metallics and red under a Red Soulstone gloss, the idea was to get a rich red colour with some more reflective bits for flash photography. I'd definitely do it a bit differently if I tried it again, some of the metalics are far too dark but the Fulgrim pink I put on the blade edge actually worked out really nicely. I didn't have a picture of the back up before but mediocrehobbyist89 called it with the passive aggressive "technically I am wearing the helmet, because it's strapped to my back." I also added some Skaven Hrud stuff to the base, which hopefully looks sewerish. Gotta say, great thread idea to try out new techniques without committing to painting an army. Though it is tempting to do a Kill Team sized unit. Heh, maybe we should write up a Schaeffer's Last Chancers style squad. Does anyone remember the rules for them vs a an army? The first officer has Ork legs? Good catch. Of course I think I got those Necromunda era Ork legs from you in the first place. Very weedy vs the current Ork scale, and I can only imagine it will get worse when Boyz get an updated kit. Still you can't knock Necromunda era Orks.

He does look like a fantastically rugged sort of warrior. Brilliant I say. I do like the tentacle tail on the base. I always found it a bit awkward attaching them to the bottoms of ranked up skaven models but fantastic for mutants and gribbly tentacles. By the way I have small guard army full of floppy hats and feathers. Lots of skulls too. So helmets are not always a necessity for me (though they mostly are). I have a lot of headless empire models in storage because of that army now. I've already started making a kill-team with the tunneller guy I posted at the top of this thread. though a Last Cahncer's kind of squad is also a brilliant idea. We would need a leader/oficer/sergeant sort to lead the mad bunch. I was also thinking of this sort of thing posted below from the 3rd edition codex. There's meant to be countless imperial worlds with their own guard regiments. Maybe we could catalogue our creations into something like this? These sort of entries don't require a smuch thought, though I do realise we also have a tyranid beastie and a mutant on here. Maybe attach some kind of loose story to it all - crusading campaign/tyranid roadblock/defenders of a doomed planet. I can't remember if the Imeprial Guard database thing is still up and running.

Yeah, the mutants, nids etc should be linked in as campaign notes. Maybe after clearing the Hrud from Kylon IV the 76th Landskrona Light were dispatched to Arraxtus Prime where they were decimated in multiple friendly fire incidents where they were mistaken for mutants and abhumans.

Good idea. You do need more then one regiment to defend a planet. nutty's guys and cheminhalers statues could have all been sent there as well whilst the nids are skirting around the sides ready to strike. If you make any traitors, cultists, and muties from your bitzbox plonk them up. Add to the muties already there.
I'm going to pain up my extra Duin-Mer guardsmen and do a solo mission against my mutant horde in the vein of zombicide mixed with kill team.

I'm part way through painting a squad of converted Khornate cultists at the moment.Perhaps also a Kustom Ork boss for the consumption of Keitel Prime, I saw some good bitz when I was organising stuff the other day.

Some great stuff going on here guys! This thread has me really inspired. So I was building a Brood of Warriors, my boy pointed out that the sword would look a lot cooler! After checking the stats I realised for 2 pts it would be rude not to! (+1 attack and -2 AP) Looking at the Scything Talons I'd already cut off the sprue I realised I could make use of them some how. Didn't take long looking through my bitz box, I wanted to do something with the spare tail from the Hive Tyrant, after a quick look through the codex I found the Red Terror! The GW official miniature is about 30 years old so I would make use of the conversion! Here's what I came up with: Tyranid Red Terror Tyranid Red Terror Tyranid Red Terror Tyranid Red Terror My Green Stuff skills are absolutely terrible but I think I got away with it! I'm looking forward to seeing what you gents come up with next.

judcottrell that beastie is beautiful and terrifying. If I was a guardsman seeing that thing on the battlefield I would know I was about to die. Though you keep making me want to buy a load of tyranid models. Not to build an army but to create a whole host of monsters.

It looks like it has the near power of a Mawloc but the presence of a Lictor.

Mediocrehobbyist89, thanks very much! I think the alien (xenos abomination) of the Tyranids really lends well to making some fun models. I have a conversion plan for a Lictor, but that’ll have to wait till the lockdown ends!
Emptyhat, that’s kinda the vibe I was going for! He needed to be larger than a Ravener but smaller than a Trygon! At 6 wounds he needed to be a midrange gribbly!
Funnily enough the lower jaw is that of a Mawloc!
Looking forward to seeing what happens next on Keital Prime (is that the name we’re going with?)

I put Keital Prime as an old Ork world eaten up by your nids.
Arraxtus Prime is the place where my original guys (Duin-Mer) are fighting a rampant mutation plague, desperate to get permission from some admech representative to dismantle some old hawkers before they're commandeered.
I kinda wrote everything as being separate originally but they can be all linked. I mentioned the nids preparing to enter imperial space, maybe the poor sods on Arraxtus are about meet them too.

Really great conversions and painting for both the Tyranid Red Terror and the Landskrona sgt. @ Empty - I have the a few versions of Schaeffer and Last Chancers rules but the last edition they appeared (4th/ 3.5 codex?) was most interesting. You have to take Col Schaeffer and Lt Kage and between 4-20 Last chancers (11 pts each back then), then they could be upgraded to 'specialist' for a further 'flamer in 7th edition' point cost, which gives them access to special or heavy (only the firer not loader) or for an addional flamer cost you can upgrade a specialist to level 1 psyker (these can only have the basic shotgun/ lasgun/ laspistol & cc) If its more than 10 models including Schaeff and Kage its 1 HQ and 2 Troops, so this Last Chancer thing can be a whole army, maybe supported by a few sentinels or something. The whole squad can be subdivided into up to 5 sub-units and as long as the Col is still alive they are immune to morale;they have Scouts (actually I'm going to check on that last point..) Kage has 5+ invulnerable as he has some kind of minor precog thing, and he's excellent at taking out sentries in some kind of old kill team variant thing. Col Schaeff has bionics, power sword and plasma pistol. The cruel Space Pirates of the Ninth Nebula have also invaded your world. The last time they did so was over 200 years ago when they brought the world a gift - the genestealer curse. The reason they did this was because a cabal of Xenos/ Chaos / Tzeentch psykers foresaw the coming of Hive Fleet Jormungandr and decide to redirect it away from their precious Maelstrom moonbases and kind of in the direction of this world. They only came back because they forgot their keys.

Cool gang of aliens there cheminhaler. They remind me of Guardians of the Galaxy, in particular Yondu and the Ravagers. Do you sue them for kill-team figths? Can imagine you can get some neat stories out of them.
Also emptyhat, love your cultist squad. Really like the paint scheme and the conversions. The head changes make them look ever so creepier then the base models.
Still deciding whether to post my recent creations. I've got an alien, a renegade, and two guardsmen. I'm not sure if I like them but I might just post them anyway. Though I am planning to do a bits order if I can and make up some nurgle cultists, though I'm not sure if that is cheating or not...

It can be a good thing to post stuff you aren't sure about. Sometimes other people can narrow down the problems, or make a compelling point for why it works.
The cultists were satisfying to make, though I admit that when you get to about 80 of them you get a little sick of both cool conversions and making them up as generics. I tried to combat it a little by making them into three groups, a nurgley one a Khorne-ish one and a Slananeshy one, but I was unable to finish them before 7th ended and GW immediately replaced them pox walkers as the new must have spam hundreds of them unit... That said I was glad for the thread bringing up cultists to give me a reason to finish off the least painted unit. I even wrote a 7th ed 1K cultist spam list so I might set that up as a game vs Ork or Guard Spam, or maybe even DoC.

Right got two more offerings to add to our list. A loyalist and a traitor. Unknown Guardsmen from the 95th Szlnok Light Infantry. Szlnok is a natural agri-world mostly made up of rivers and farm land. Originally a feudal world run by the Maygarian aristocracy, they were replaced after the Gyzoran rebellion. The rest of the population remained pliant, and in fact supported Imperial forces in suppressing the highborn rebels. As such they were spared, the land of the Maygarians spread amongst them as a reward. Generally the farmers of Szlnok are very pious but also rather simple. To off worlders the planet seems backward and rough, the people themselves coarse and unkempt. The main export is of course agri-productions, however in times of emergency it is known for large sections of the PDF to be conscripted into the Imperial Guard and sent elsewhere. Luckily the planet has quite a large populaton and is able to take the strain. The units that are produced are basically trained and equiped, though the regiments are also quite large in comaprison to those from other worlds. They are trained to fight in formation and rely on the strength of an aggressive bayonet charge as they lack in armoured vehicles and specialist equipment. The 95th is currently travelling to Arraxtus Prime along with the 93rd, 94th, and 96th. It is unlikely that they will turn the tide of the war. Instead they are expected to hold the line and buy time so that appropriate tech-priests can be found to dismantle the ancient freighters currently docked there. All 4 regiments have already been written off as casualties. Banner Bearer of the heretic pirate clan the Bleached Skulls. Mad and bloodthirsty these professional raiders have been a constant threat to Imperial order in the sector. Their methods usually involve landing upon an planet hidden within disguised Imperial freighters. Then planetside they will launch sudden assaults on key locations, causing as much chaos as they can. It is usual for them to place agents within the slave and worker classes of the planets to stir them up into rebellion. With the planet overwhelmed their main ships then attack. Once a sufficent enough damage has been done, they then depart leaving the uprising to its fate. Inevitably an Imperial counterattack will be launched to crush the rebellion. By the time they get there though there is no sign of the Bleached Skulls save for the death and destruction they have wrought. Efforts to locate their base within an asteroid field have yet to be met with success. With the arrival of Hive Fleet Ariagnee it is believed that this pirate clan was one of many consumed by the Xenos forces. The last known contact with them was a desperate plead for assistance. This was quickly erased from our databanks.
