hrmm, opposite..... Well we need one with lower numbers, that's opposite....one with really powerful, well armored, close combat units. Sounds like DeamonHunters! I you want somthing different go with them, i will say my freind plays em and they are really fun to play (tried em a few times)

i'm just wondering because i know marines are great big power armoured killing machines but they're too common. im looking at tua because they have possibly the best weapons in the game, orks because, well...i don't know i just like them.

I allready have 4 regular 40k armies but because of Apolocypse i'm devoting myself to father nurgle as you can build a really large pointed Plague Marine army in a short time.

You could try a necron army. The average guardsman is quite easy to kill, armed with a weak weapon, whereas the average necron is better armoured and armed with a truly deadly gauss rifle.

You can never have too many guardsmen. Ever. every 10 guardsmen means 1 more heavy weapon and 1 more special weapon. And 16 more S3 AP- shots.
If you shoot at something enough, eventually it will keel over and die.

The eigth company of space marines is not a battle company...its the assault company if I remember the codex astartes right. 1st Veterans should use deathwing rules as a rough make up and Tyrannic vet 2nd Battle balanced 3rd Battle balanced 4th Battle balanced 5th Battle balanced 6th Battle (specialized in bike combat) use Ravenwing rules for make up 7th Battle (Rapid response in vehicles) rhinos and landspeeders 8th Assault should use blood angel rules as a rough make up 9th Devastators Should have devastors as main troops or something 10th scouts and their trainers so use scouts as troops and vets as elites
They generally fight in pairs also and their captains each have a special function as seen in the appocolypse rules.
Not completely sure on accuracy but most chapters would follow this.

1. Company = Veterans most of them with Tactical Dreadnaught armour 2. to 5. Company = Battle Companies (6 Tactical-, 2 Assault-, and 2 Devastorsquads) 6.-9. Company = Reserve Companies. 6. and 7. made of Tacticalsquads, 8. Assaultsquads, 9. Devastorsquads 10. Company = Scout Company
All companies have access to the garage and their armoured vehicles, while most of the Land Raiders are reserved for the 1. Company

Honestly im going to pick Necrons. I think an easy to paint army will do me well. Plus I dont want swarmers. My fantasy army is Skaven and it just didn't work for me. After buying a bunch of Easterlings and beating some high elves, I figure that my tactic of upgrading the He11 out of my models isn't going to work!

well puffy, i don't remember what guard army you had( it's been a long time since i was on here)but lately i have been using a grenadier army, all in chimeras. It's been working well for me and the added maneuverability of the chimeras, not to mention the mobile heavy weapons it has is a plus. The only draw backs i have with it is against swarm armies such as nids,i can't seem to kill enough fast enough( basalisk and exterminater with hull/sponson heavy bolters works well though). good luck in your decision though.

I have to concur with Dethklok and Black Death, The Eldar are the way to go. Although they can be tricky to get used to, There is nothing like melting any opposing Infantry(or monsterous creatures in my experience) with Dark Reapers, 'Crons might get back up but only if the Lord has a resurection orb nearby.

Feral Orks are a non-tournment army. If you want a real challenge, an all Kroot Army =] Otherwise, Orks all the way
