I wasnt sure where to put this so I put it here.
Anyways I was wondering if when you deployed a transport a squad had to be included in it?

Like if you wanted a chimera or rhino just by itself? Yeah, you can. Just pay the points.

If you are asking when does the transport for the troops deploy it deploys during the troop deployment.
If you took the vehicle by itself then it deploys as appropriate class (i.E. heavy, elite, fast attack)
Eaxample... An allied sister Dominion squad is a fast attack. You would deploy them and their Immolator transport in the fast attack phase of deployment (last)...
If you were playing sisters and wanted a Immolator by itself and not as a Transport then you deploy it during Heavy deployment since it is classified as a heavy choice.

Yeah, but wouldnt a chimera be placed under troops? Since it is under that section and it isnt really a "tank" just an APC.

you cannot take a transport without a squad. you must pay for the squad, then upgrade them with a transport. think of it as taking a power sword without a veteran sgt.
You can, however deploy them seperately.

If you buy the vehicle as a transport it is a transport. If you buy it seperately, while it might be a transport, but it acts as a tank since transports are taken as dedicated.
never made much sense to me that if a dedicated transport is blown up your squad assigned to it now become foot sloggers. They only vehicle that I know of that is NOT a dedicated transport is the land Raider.
nothing surprises your enemy more than seeing a full squad of close combat marine scouts emerging to assault with the vet sarg wielding a pair of lightening claws.

Yeah, well the chimera is an APC. But most people think its a tank. I'm sure that you can field it as both...I shall ask the peoples at GW about that...

There is no option to buy a Chimera on it's own, and you deploy it when it's passengers are deployed.
So if it's carrying your HQ you deploy it when you deploy your HQ, if it's carrying a squad of troops then you deploy it when the squad of troops is deployed. But it doesn't say they need to be deployed together on the board so you could set up all your army on one side of the board with all the transports on the other side.

Yup. Only the Land Raider can be bought seperatly. So for all our tin cans out there you could actually field 6 Land Raider. 3 as transport for terminator squads and 3 as Heavy Support (but those 3 could transport squads as well)
But that leads me to some transport question as well. I want to use two Land Raiders in my Chaos army. One is the transport option of the terminators, so no problem with setting them up. But the second I'd need to buy as Heavy Support and then I want to place in a squad of 9 Chosen Ones (Elite) and the Chaos Sorceror (HQ) in it. How does setup work then? Do I setup the Land Raider in the HS phase, then I say in the Elite phase that the Chosen ones are inside, and finally in the HQ pahse that the Sorceror is inside the LR as well?

when the time comes to set up elites, say that the squad you described is deploying inside a Heavy Support land raider then wait until the HS set up phase.
Please correct me if i'm wrong

Its: HS <--- Land Raider here Troops Elites <--- Chosen Ones during this phase HQ <--- Sorceror attached to the Chosen Ones here Fast Attack

Ah, I see...so if I go mechanized its like, half the board can be moving pill boxes while the other is a mass of crazed, blood thirsty Ivans waving lasguns and vodka. Sweetness.

My complete Apocalypse Chaos force will be mechanized. Chosen Ones and Termiators in Land Raiders, while all the normal (2 plasmagun wielding) squads are in Rhino that ignore crew shaken and crew stunned...

APCs are really a nice thing (too bad I didn't notice earlier). Somehow I really have to say I wish CSM could have Chimeras. But I Rhinos have to work for my needs. The only problem I have right now is that I can't lay down much fire while advancing. perhaps I'll have to get a shooty Cybot with Sync. Lascannon and Missile Launcher for that besides two Predators and about 30 Bikes

Lol, well I think what makes guard what it is, is our ability to lay down some fire, even if it is pretty weak.

Yeah and if you're used to it that you can lay down a lot of fire if playing mechanized it gives you some serious issues if you can't do that anymore. As soon as I reach the lines I won't have any problems. Most enemies will fall to all the Rapid Fire I have and the one who tries to assault me has to be a total idiot, Eldar or Genestealer...

nothing like seeing a squad of genestealers evaporate after being hit with a Hellhound, two immolators, and the following rapid fire that takes place.
Took on some Nid today. That didn't have a prayer. By Turn three I had wiped out over 1500 points off the table from all the firing that was being handed down.

Its no problem for me to take on Nids in CC, the problem are just those damned Genestealers since they're the only ones who are faster than my average CSM.

two words to help you with the Stealers... Flame template.
two immolators and a Hellhound take them out easily.
My immolators and hellhound were dubbed the easy Bake Oven squadron by the people I play with. lot's of fire power there.

Erm how do I get Immolators and Hellhounds into a CSM force? If you get me some good reasons for that you should start working for GW

you can use traitor guard to get the hellhounds that is for sure.
for apoc you don't use a force org, and you can ally with anyone so it is possible to get them.

I'm already allying with Traitor Guard, but if you can give me a really good excuse why Witchhunters should join up with Slaanesh Chaos Marines...
