Hey guys, i was wondering whether anyone noticed the new empire miniatures. So should i go get some? i mean, they do show the same traits as the guard , and i dont want to waste my buck buying something i dont like.

The new Empire soldiers are of really good quality (details, options, etc.) but I personally don't like the style of the WFB Empire that much.

They are ok but it seems everyone and their dog plays empire.. they do look nice.. but at the same time I like to try different armies for different game play.. Empire would be a nice force to use though if you were looking for alternatives for conversion oppotunities..
Best thing to do is read up on them more or even try to get in a couple of games with maybe proxies to try them out and such.. see if they fit your play style..
Hope this helps Cheers Gris

I thought abt that a while back actually, what really attracted me to them was their uniformity, like having a bunch of 18th century riflemen using the close order drill, while their spearmen hold the line. I wasnt really with the conversions, i like stuff the way they are most of the time. I used to play skaven (Got something like 870 clanrats/ogres/jezzails/stormvermin lying under my bed) so i really like their numbers too.

Skaven are the army with most numbers in complete Warhammer. No other force has cheaper troops than Skaven and no other force relies on numbers that much.

back on topic here.. empire is nice but only if you really like to field the numbers of smaller than guardsmen models, that are wearing not as puffy but still puffy clothing.. oh and the cannons.. cannot forget the artillery for the empire.. the mainstay of their forces at times.. have yet to see an empire player play without at least 3.. 5 for larger games.. though for hordes.. skaven is top, night goblins or just regular goblins follow up.. and I dont care about the rest cause I dont play them Good luck on your choice mate.. gris

Would the empire be good for formation tactics? like close order with muskets and spears and such>?

In WHFB every force is on close order, as the regiments have to stay in base to base contact all the time, unless you play a army consisting out of skirmishers only (Wood Elves)

if u mean close order by regiment and horde grouping i wasnt meaning that, i was meaning sumthin like 3 rows of hand gunners side by side, blocked by a barricade of spearmen.

Every army uses that what you call close order Drill. My Clanrats are thightly packed (otherwise all my rats wouldn't fit on the table) together behind the Slaves. And the same goes for other armies, just that they're protecting their gunners with CC troops. Even Ogres often use that tactic even if they don't need to do that.

1st rule in Warhammer. Know your foe as you know your own forces. Than you should know that Rat Ogres are as fast as cavellery and strong like ogres.
And now back to topic and let's stay on topic

That topic was more or less dead, so would you please stop digging up old threads. That is even mentioned in the forum rules...
