Does anyone else think we may be getting plastic ogryns with apocalipse? I have a feeling they will be released because the current models must be some of the oldest models games workshop still sell. Plus lots of plastic ogryn models have been released for Warhammer so why not warhammer 40,000.

I'm tempted to move this to the rumors forum, but it's more of a 'hey wouldn't it be cool if' type post rather than a 'hey guess what I heard' type post so yeah...here it stays. and I agree, it would be cool if!

To be honest, I think if they were going to release new Ogryns I think they would have done it along with the newest Codex a few years back. I don't think we will be seeing plastic Ogryns any time soon.

The problem would be that not many people use Ogryns. (hands up if you do). I see lots of army lists posted on this site but I can't remember any with Ogryns in them.
The Warhammer Ogre's were a completley new army and not just a revamped unit.
I've only just started reusing my Ogryns. They've very vunerable to powerweapons etc.
If they do release plastic Ogryns and GW get the price right (LOL) then I reckon my people will use them.

I think they could be a surprise release. I bet the reason most people won`t use them is because the models don`t look that good (well, in my opinion anyway) and they are very expensive. Remodeled Ogryns are long overdue and the release of apocalipse might just be the excuse to release them.
And I was tempted to put this post in the rumours section. I decided not to because its just a theory of mine rather than something someone official unofficially said.

And now why don't use many people Ogryns? Perhaps the metal minis look horrible and are too expensive? So a box of plastic Ogryns could really boost the rate of which Ogryns are used. I personally like the rules for the Ogryns but I dislike the minis and their price...

I really want to use Ogs, but for me it is the price. Too pricey for what they are. A unit of not many in a chimera costs a fortune, you can prob get 2 tanks for the same monetary value.
Most of the ones I have seen around recently have been converted FB 1s, which is certainly what I will do when I make mine. I have 1 lead one (I do really like the models, and I wanted an example of the ripper gun to see if I can scratch build them easily).
I still think they could do with being a little bit better stat wise, u'd see more if they had +1 to T.

hmmm, well ogryns are pretty cool, the models are outdated, i dont use them, they are expensive points and moneywise ($28 AUSTRALIN for 1 !!!)
and if they release them in plastic it would be cool but it would be like buying an ogre set with less ogres for a higher price ($55 australian for 5 or something like that)

I dunno, I think the ogryn models are fine (probably the only one here who does, heh) I just don't use them because they aren't allowed in the cadian doctrines. how nice would it be to have a counterassault unit though!!?

I like the Ogryns models.
I painted up my first unit to look like a gang of bikers.
Plus they are big lumps of metal, very handy should you "accidentally" drop one on top of a plastic terminator.

Well if it stops your opponent charging your Ogryns with his Termie's (don't you just hate powerweapons.)

I hate to burst your bubble guys, but plastic Ogryns will never be. I have pictures of the new Imperial Guard Commissars, and Ogryns, and the Ogryns are metal, and will most likely still cost a disgusting £9 per model. But on the plus side the Commissars are absolutely awesome! From Warseer. They are now in resin, but they will be metal models.

Well, I wasn`t too far off the mark when I said there would be plastic ogryns. I was after all half right. Still, that Ogryn looks like a leader, which explains the odd positioned arm. Maybe, (clutching straws here) the normal ogryns will be plastic.

I hate to say it, but I like the old ones - they really have that dumb brute feel, but they ARE kinda cartoony and not realistic like these new ones are.
I'm hoping that you're right and that ogryn is the leader (thus the arm).

The Commissars will be metal too by the looks of it, and to be honest I prefer the old commissar minis to these new ones. I would also prefer to continue converting Ogryns from Ogres rather than using these new ones.
My main problem with the old Ogryn minis is that they are too hunchbacked and 'orky'. Ogryns are abhuman after all and should stand more upright.

however the current commissars are out dated in way...so i think these new model would look great...however i am with some of you guys in saying that i'd prefer to convert ogres to ogryns rather than purchasing the actual minis

Whats he doing, stopping traffic or waving to someone. hey, this is the Imperial Guard. Someone has to guide all those tanks around. You don`t want your Demolisher living up to its name by totalling your little Chimera when reversing.
