I'm bitter about the differences in Inquisitorial STs and I.G. STs. You get more for your points with the I.G STs, that's true, but there is a small thing that I hate. The I.G. STs MUST have a Sgt. with a pistol and CC, and IQ STs MUST have all Hellguns. It's murder if you want to us the same models for both. Also Why can't they give Krak grenades to the IQ Storm Troopers for free? I don't want to pay for them when I get them free in a diffrent list.

it's true the IG stormtroopers are the better of the two unit options. as to why? I can't really say, unfortunately. one would think that the inquisition with its near limitless power could afford some grenades for their soldiers, but who knows eh?

I guess the reason the IQ stormtroopers are not as good is because GW didn`t want the IQ army to be made up of the best of all imperial armies?
I suppose Imperial Guard Armourers would want to give the best equipement to those units fighting for imperial guard regiments. I would imagine there would be a great deal of resentment from the Guard when the Inquisition takes some of the best fighting men availiable. Therefore the guard may not issue the men with all the proper equipement. You could imagine the conversation..."whats that lads, off to fight for someone else, well you can use their weapons then, these are for our units"
Although I would have though they would have access to the best weapons the imperium has to offer.

I could well be wrong (I don't have my codex on me) but I thought the IQ ST represented their own private army, rather than soliders from the IG ST regiment, which would explain the difference. For IQ STs are their weakest squads, for IG they are the best, so I guess the lack of wargear may be something to do with showing that difference.
I know what u mean about the weapon load outs tho, I wish the sarg could take either a pistol or rifle.
THe cc servitor is worse for the IQ too.

that's the best explanation I've heard so far fatuous, whether it's the case (private army) or not, which I dunno either way to be honest

Both forms of Stormtrooper are trained in the same facilities (The Schola Progenium). The difference comes when they're fielded. To the Ordos of the Inquisition, the Stormtroopers represent cannonfodder when compared to their own Chambers Militant (Grey Knights, Battle Sisters, ect) or even the Adeptus Astartes that an Inquisitor can call to battle. Thus, when deploying with Inquisitorial forces, Stormtroopers are given the minimum of equipment. To Imperial Guard Regiments, however, these highly-trained (for an unaugmented human) soldiers represent the best the Imperium of Man can field under the command of a Regimental Officer. Thus, IG Regimental Commanders tend to lavish their elite borrowed troops with the best gear they can supply, and there's never a shortage of grenades amongs the IG.

IQ strormies are actually better if you're putting them in the way of a assaulty army. Vet sargent with a thunder hammer(drools...) Tis a shame the IG have been so badly done in weapons options....

powerweapons just don't do it for me when we're talking about 1 guy at S3 with a powersword. I'm sorry, but there's a reason it's only valued at 5pts. I have yet to really be made a fan of the IG powersword. it seems more symbolic to me than anything else. I AM a fan of hardened veterans with a powerfist on the sergeant - that's worthwhile!
back on topic however, I challenge anyone else to explain why IG stormtroopers are different than inquisitorial stormtroopers and which version is better - inquisitional stormtroops or IG stormtroops.
I'm interested in what the weapon options are for an inquisitional stormtrooper sergeant...as a matter of fact, I'm going to go grab my daemonhunters codex!...
oh hell yeah.. demonhunter stormtrooper sergeants can have twin lightning claws, powerfists, thunderhammers...all that. that's a pretty huge edge over IG stormtroops, who may have a couple extra grenades but lack the mini-character with the hidden melee weapon of doom.

wow lightening claws, awesome. was looking to add an inq and some deamon hosts, so a couple of squads of inq STs may be a lot of fun . i just wish u had the choice between pistol or rifle, like a normal inf squad.

I agree with commissar, the IQ stormies options are worth the krak grenader. I mean, when was the last time you used krak grenades?

Witch hunter Stormies are the best IMO.. can give the vet sarg Eviscerators >:}
And in the codex it seems like stormtroopers are more like the guards of =I= fortresses and such, and it mentions recruiting them from the scholo progenium AND military academies with a tradition of serving the inquisition. I guess they are just not as tooled up for spec ops missions as IG ones are, they are kinda put in a guard role.
And we all know that anyone within half a mile of an inquisitor gets all sorts or quirky awesome wargear :]

My commander was once standing 3 yards from an inquisitor and nothing happened. Well, by nothing I mean he shot him in the head....

No, my commander shot the inquisitor in the head. After using 'puppet dance' on a squad of allied terminators. Boy but that was fun.

The dark side is more fun. Come and join us Commissar. We'll set the galaxy ablaze, then pop off to the Maelstrom for some tea and Vodka for the next 1000 years.
