Looks good so far. But the helmet is still too much modern Cadia. Right now he looks more then a Cadian with a Autogun then a Pre-Heresy guardsmen.

so it will work out well for you to sand his helmet's accoutrement off. you could throw some steel legion in too. its surprising how unified different soldiers look when you paint them in the same scheme.

Cut of all the stuff on the helmet and model some rebreathers on the faces. But DON'T cut everything of and nothing to the face. that looks silly. I already tried that

An Autogun is like a Shotgun, they didnt have Packs sticking out the bottom.
I suggest you take a Look at Necromudna sprues for Autoguns.

theres a picture in the 40k rulebook of an autogun and it does actually have a magazine out of the bottom, though it is a M40 edition of an autogun, still... looks similar to an M16

Does it, My bad.
get Necromunda Sprues, or take a look for a good image.

the only problem with the necromunda guns is 1. they are Ex$pen$ive 2. Because they are metal they are a pain to cut to size. And besides the Auto guns in Necromunda have the smaller clip like the Las gun. Now i think i like my Auto gun conversion reason being it is easy, and the actual auto gun design would be harder than H377 to do. ;D
Any more suggestions or info please post.
ps dont expect this project to gain massive ground considering im in the process of finishing my eldar as well.

Just one thing on the clip. change the lasgun clip a bit with GS. flatten the sides or something like that. Otherwise it's too much lasgun like. make it a bit more M14 like

use boltgun clips. you can buy 10 boltguns for $5 at bwbits. here's the link: bwbits.com/product/3532I know adding 50 cents per model is a bit expensive but it would really be worth it in my opinion. you could also see what you could do to bum some extra boltguns from friends and people here on the forum. I prolly have some boltguns I could contribute to the cause if you are really desperate.

I think you could get some good conversion bits from some WW2 game ranges. I'm not sure of what ranges would fit best, but the guns are probablly cheaper and a littlemore diverse. I would expect that in the days of the Imperial Army the weapons were as diverse as the forces themselves. If you could find a way to get a good number of thomsons machine guns or MP-40's at the right scale I think it would look pretty bomb.

Looks nice. Try cutting off the block of plastic thats on top of the gun (above the guys left hand) as it doesn't seem to serve any purpose, and cutting it off will make look evn less like a las gun. Maybe sick a bit of plastic at the end of the body of the gun so it looks like a sight.

lol bananas from Scotland I'm liking it too, but gold armor??? it's just not to my tastes. there are billions of guardsmen, even pre-heresy guardsmen and thusly an almost infinate assortment of paintscheme varieties. go with something that you not only like, but love, otherwise this army, no matter how cool will never be something you stick with (that is how it works in my experience).

i have heard that terran guardsman have black fatigues with gold trim/armor, but unless you really like it i dont think its the way to go either. you're red gore and brown ink sounds interesting, post pictures when you get it finished.

hey that acutally sounds pretty good looking! kinda a bit of a blood angels type feel but with guard - you'll definately have no worries about seeing another army like that on the table!! with my cadians it sometime sucks because all the pride I take in my army is kinda dwarfed when someone is like 'oh hey me too!' and busts out a couple platoons of similar looking minis I love the cadian colors though so whatever heh.
