If i were crowned at this point then this was a bit fast for a painting competition.. didnt last that long..
I thikn the showdown should be cancelled so that more people can be getting through the next little bit thanks to vacations and such.. and yes .found is giving me a run for my money.. though he hasent posted anything in a while..
So the question is this.. if I take back the showdown request how many people would still be in it and be trying to get things painted and to bump me from the top spot?

I would try to paint some stuffl. Even if it's hard for me to fin some time between all the learning for my exams that start in 10 days. But that still leaves me to the unpleasent situation that I can't continue after the 8. of August.

Thats fine.. though by then I can guarantee that it will be a much high hill to climb to catch up I have been a bit busy lately and am in the midst of finishing some models here.. am guessing Fish would be in if he had the chance as well.. but what about TB?? Any chance you made enough progress to stay in with this last showdown? Or did no one make the cut off? Gris

man, I've been staving off burnout I'm a casual painter - you hardcores amaze me hehe. I've got alot done so far and I really like the progress I've made. at this point it's like eye drops - my eye doesn't wanna open up to get the drop in it but I know it's good for me heh. does that make sense? I tend to just call it 'burnout.' I really like having the paintoff but you're just outpacing me bud. I dunno what to say other than that I'm more the casual painter type

uff yah.. which is basically ugh.. in turkish..
Anyways.. there has been some great progress so far and I would hate for it to die on account of vacations.. so lets stop the showdown and keep accumlating points here and see what happens.. next showdown at say.. mmm 150 points from my side.. if anyone wants to call it before that to reduce the dead weight by all means go ahead.. but I think that will be when i call it next..
How does that sound? Any objectives.. any support even? Do people want to continue the hardcore painters section? I know fish does, how about the rest? Should we continue or drop the hats here, reorganize it into a slackers.. um I mean casual painters bracket and go from there?
Comments, thoughts or opinions?
Cheers Gris

haha grisnik, slackers bracket I like it. for me, when I can say 'ok I want 5 points, so I'm gonna paint 5pts in stuff' then I can do that - it's manageable and doesn't pop my brain to think about. when I need like 20 points that goes alot more toward popping my gourd cuz I can't bear the thought about sitting down and ripping out 20pts in models in one sitting. heh it takes me a whole day to assemble and paint a tank and that's only 7.5pts or something the way I judge myself. at any rate, when I just have too much to do, I have ended up just not doing anything as far as the showdown goes it seems. I'll cancel the showdown, but if .found! is ok with it, I'm gonna allocate one blister from the prize pot to you as a reward for early on dominance on the leaderboard. it's funny; with the showdown off, I actually am thinking about painting again...

Ok then.. good to hear it.. but I have to warn you.. I have a few models that I got finished over the weekend that I have to just finish up and will post up.. so expect the gap to widen a bit now Cheers TB.. would like to see more painted from your corner there.. especially considering that I think you have almost 5 times more painted this time than you did last year My club mates love this competition considering that most of my RnFers are getting completed now for my Night Goblins.. I have almost 5 full units of NGs completed now.. which is a huge step forward.. now if I can get the whole group done and then begin work on the characters my army will look dynomite.. it might also be my first fully painted 2000 point fantasy army as well.. which is quite the accomplishment considering I have been playing/collecting over 15 yrs.. Cheers TB and gang.. lets see what the future holds.. Gris

Ok so going to drop down 20 models here.. I know I can only get 10 points per day.. but either I am hoping that it will count for today and tomorrow and probably the rest of the week.. or will count for 10 points and keep the gap from going too far I guess.. So here goes.. So yeah.. 20 Night Goblins.. random boys for my units.. they were all sprayed black and had the flock already on it.. so just finished them up.. now I need to still give them a shot of the dull coat but they are pretty much finished at this point though.. going to add something more to the bases but not until I have them all finished as a whole and can decide what to add to them.. Cheers Gris *edited as the first pics were way too big *

20pts in models + 5pts in quality bonuses = 25pts to grisnik (dang man!). this is the same rate as the first night goblins you turned in so I hope that's cool.
points credited, and nice work man!

Yup.. like I have said previously.. I aim for the basic trooper points.. everyone top of that is extra.. Unfortunately my painting for this week is severly halted due to my Turkish classes, and going to actually play a game this week.. that and I will probably spend the weekend working on more BB minitures.. but once I have a few made then the painting will start again.. this just gives me a nice buffer zone to sit on while everyone else catches up Cheers and thanks for the points.. Sure.. bring on the warmachines.. if it means more painting to be had by participants then all the better.. though does that mean hordes models can be included as well then? Might be tempted to get me 2 starter packs of them.. they look soooo damn good..
Will try to get some painting done this weekend.. would like to have more models to play with fully painted so need to get anouther unit of NGs done up.. am so close to getting a fully painted army fielded that its beyond crazy..
Cheers and sorry to hear that you are no longer in it fish.. wish you were still in..

cool, then I'm gonna get my new Khadoran Uhlan done asap the model is so sweet and frickin heavy! I love the weight to it (though $20 for a single cavalry model makes me just say 'wow.')

so definately a cavalry model here (2pts). I did some new things like wetbrushing and using snow so I spent all night on it. I'm gonna claim a full point in quality bonus as I really worked hard to perfect some new techniques tonight. I'm also gonna claim assembly bonus of .4 plus an additional +.1 because I had to learn how to use greenstuff properly as a gap filler. it was really educational and worked out very well! that's a total of 3.5pts for this model then. woot! back in the saddle again (yuk yuk)

/me points to the rules Tboy didn't you say yourself only GW minis? I'm sure that's none Because Skaven don't have cavalery, only infantry on cav bases. So next time try to get different heraldy on the shields and not Skaven symbols

Hey KNight.. look above.. he asked if anyone had objections to non GW miniatures.. I said it was ok and no one else answered.. I think its pretty much up to a anything goes contest now.. but most of us still have a considerable amount of GW products.. Good work TB.. I havent seen that model before.. I might need to check out the warmachines crew afterall if they have things like that.. I always liked the Methos crew ( not sure if that is the right name but they are primarily painted white with red trim I think..) Cool that you got it done though.. am almost finished my first footballer.. he's turning out quite well but I think I mess up on his jersey Cheers Gris

Sorry then, but I normally don't read all the "spamming" between picture posts and Tboy's point announces. Oh and I shouldn't forget to say that I read the rules pages Well and for me I'm out of this contest from now on. I don't have the time to paint as my semester exams are just about to start and after that I have to work a lot so that I can pay my studying...

what is this guy? he looks like a combo of cadian bits (head and feet) and an empire leg thrown in with a massive array of greenstuffed armor.
what kind of conversion points are you wanting for this guy? obviously you get 1 for an infantry sized model and we'll do uhm... .6 for the quality (?) since the red is beautifully blended and the face is just awesome (it'd be more but it's really quite a simple and limited model detail wise). this sound fair so far? how much you thinking for a conversion bonus based on the time invested? you tell me and we'll go from there.

Check out the thread in the conversion thread about what guardsmen do when not fighting..
Again like I said before mate.. whatever you think for points is good for me.. took me a day to make the guy, then about 4 hrs to smooth the gs down and add the final touches.. and then a day to paint in total.. and by day i mean like 8+ hrs.. which is kinda slow.. but I spent a lot of time on the blending on this guy..
Going to start work on the 2 catchers today and see how far I get from there..
Cheers Gris
