Hi peeps
Quick question regarding scoring (capturing units) and Command Squads.
I've read suggestions in some of the threads regarding using command squads to capture objectives.
Have a missed something, but I thought that as the officer is an independent character, then the squad couldn't capture objectives.
Thanks

wouldnt it be the same thing if a space marine squad had a master in it. the squad can still capture objectives so why not?

A squad with an independent char attached is not the same as a command squad. So an inf squad with a JO attached to it (once his staff are all dead) would be a scoring unit. CSs are more in line with a bought retinue (like nobz or incubi), but the retinue is not an option. I always thought that they were (scoring units), but think I may have been playing it wrong, as there is a chart in the rule book which covers when ind cahrs are scoring (basically never). Thanks for ur input

Only when a junior officer or another officer etc is standing on the table by himself or he leaves a unit, he is then classed as an independent character and is not a scoring unit. When he is with a unit they are a scoring unit. That unit that is left is then still a scoring unit as well.

Thanks, but how does that work with his staff retinue, as he can't leave them, are they scoring units aswell?
E.G a HSO at the beginning of the game, is the command squad a scoring unit?

The way i used to play was them being independant characters, once the retinue was killed then he was no longer able to hold objectives because he is an independant character.
