I went down to my local GW today after college and decided to have a look at the "stores copy" of the new 2008 cataloge, only to find that there is absolutley NO collectors guard what so ever.
Now I knew they said they were gonna remove some, but what about ALL the Praetorian players? there F**ked tbh...
I mean when I asked about it I said a generic not so classic guard type, steel legion, and apparently not even they are gonna be left in, now i hope to dear god my manager of my store is wrong but I swear down I think GW are making a mistake by getting rid of all the models, all i can see from what their doing is "We CBA to make them", they dont even seem to be thinking about all the customers there going to lose and all the money!
The removal of ALL loose sprues to me is ridiculous, so now, rather than me ordering the Space wolve sprue for the plasma guns I now have to buy the entire box, to me it's just another "come to GW and buy a entire boxed for stuff you dont need!".
I hope for all our sakes this isn't true, I don't think i can handel ONLY being able to buy basic cadian, RAMBO men and the pathetic new metal rubbish vos-tri-W/E models.
I already miss the classics......
/Rant
.P.S. The manager threw out customers for browsing in the shop for too long, so don't blame me if this ends up to be false.

Seems to me that GW are dropping a lot of the older metal figures.

Seems to me GW can kiss my patronage goodbye, I've already got enough 40K to sink a battleship and I don't actually need to buy any more. So they just shot themselves in the foot there, if their intent is to behave like collosal morons whose brains are to be found on their lower bodies then okay, just expcet a serious drop in sales

Yeah I went and asked my other store members, they say you've got till the 28th of Janurary. I can't believe my Praetorian dreams are being dashed this quickly... I can't muster my planned 500 pounds army within 8 days

Heck, maybe its cause thy are releasing plastic praetorian, steel legion, mordian, tallarn and valhallans?
*Looks around*
OK, its incredibly unlikely. But Its best to look on the positive side.

All it's really going to to is lessen their sales, and increase EBAY's.
Half the fun of making an army is SPECIALIZING it. This looks like a drive to make us all the same. But when you think about it, their shift is all about APOC ... and that means hoards .. and who wants to specialize a hoard. ME!!!

Seems to me GW can kiss my patronage goodbye, I've already got enough 40K to sink a battleship and I don't actually need to buy any more. Thats why GW do it. There's a lot of gamers who don't "need" any more, so they make new figures to entice you to spend more money. It's annoying when they drop a line but it'll be even more annoying if GW went bust because they kept making figures that no one wanted to buy.

Wait till you see the upgrade kits that are replacing what was once the bitz orders.

Yah, but scanning the forum I can see that there are a good number of people who want to buy the classic miniatures. I think GW need a lesson in good-old fashioned sales: you look after your customers. Yes you make a profit, but its better to make twenty million over five years than two million over one.

If enough people were buying the old figures then they wouldn't drop them.
People were up in arms when they killed off the Squats but most people today just say "Squats? oh those funny looking buggers" (thats if they even remember them.)

Actually squats were only dropped because it was obvious that they were dwarfs in armour...
ok ok I know orks are "space orks" but orks are cool... dwarfs arent...

One of the original game designers posted a long explanation as to why Squats were dropped. They were dropped because nobody bought them.
I know lots of people who've been playing since RT days but I don't know anyone who played squats.

I understsnd why they're doing it, i mean come on, do you know how many figures and bitz they have in their warehouse that no one buys. I mean whats the point of having over thousands of bitz for guard that no one plays or in most cases don't even know about. Soo i agree with what they're doing, to me its a good move on their part.

With the removal of old bitz and minis from the mail order they open space for new bitz and new minis. And afaik there will be a complete new IG plastic mini line released shortly after the 5th edition together with the new Codex: Imperial Guard

I can really live with the removal of all the old metal guard, I never liked the looks of their lasguns. Even if they remove plastic Cadians and Catachan I can live with it. I have enough bitz to stomp out a new army.

So we have to wait Feck knows how long until we get our models back?
I mean i don't even want another 5th edition especially with the new Codex: Imperial Guard, I love guard how they are, As long as they get a tad better in combat and NOTHING else changes in the Codex i'm fine. Oh and what the hell about the "complete new IG plastic mini line" that might not even be true, and even if it is we still want the metal stuff back, Well at least I do anyways.

If the new plastics are good, I'll go along. If not..... well, I got a big enough army, and there's always Forge world......

We shouldn't whine as IG players. The Dark Eldar have reasons to whine. Our codex is only few years old, while theirs is from the last millenium.
