Hello all,
I started Warhammer 40k back in June of last year and started my only army as Imperial Guard I like tanks what can I say... and I am pretty much the only IG player in our store so that was another reason I picked them because I wanted to be unique.
So far I'd have to say 1-on-1 Nids are giving me the most trouble... last battle I had FOUR guardsmen alive after turn6. I'm currently working with a fully infiltrating army (light infantry, chem inhalers, chameoline) and have fully equipped both platoon command squads + HQ with plasma as my suicide squads I'll post the list a bit later... I want to go a more mobile rout and bring back the vox network with my next list.
After reading much of this forum I was glad that the commissar's leadership bonus to the HSO applies to the vox, as that would be the main reason I'd go back to the vox network list.
I currently own about ~95 cadians shock troops, including the command squad box & 2 officers, 10 Stormtroopers, 1 hellhound, 2 Leman Russ MBTs, and 1 Basilisk. I also have 7 heavy weapons teams: 2 lascannons, 4 autocannons, and 1 heavybolter. I also have 1 commisar, yarrick, and a chimera that I still need to put together. I just ordered that Apocalypse set of 10 sentinels, which I really liked as I could field all of them in a standard game, unlike most of the apoc sets. I eventually want to try an armoured company when I get more cash.... 'cause tanks are a bit pricey... and I'd want to try and get all those forgeworld ones too... exterminator, vanquishers, etc.
Oh, I also have a plastic baneblade which I'm in the process of getting the pieces I need to convert it to the Fortress of Arrogance (mostly 'cause it looks cool and I like the fluff about Yarrick.... the 800-something point value on it doesn't really seem worth it).
I guess I'm kind of rambling, but if anyone had any suggestions that'd be much appreciated. I've also thought of adding in some Grey Knight Termies as my biggest blindspot is.... being assaulted.
Like the comissar bonus over the vox, I also had another couple of questions if anyone would be so kind as to answer them. Can the Command squads close-order drill as they are guardsmen? or is that purely for non command, non stormtrooper, shock troop squads? Also, can vet sergeants take powerfists? My first list actually included one or two in my army, but now I'm not so sure if it was "legal".
Still working on my fluff for a cadian regiment name and number... as well as making up a name for myself, as the Colonel If I ever get my army up in the 3k range or so I've already got a cool apoc army theme (I think), centered around Yarrick, whos riding around with the Black Templars. So I was thinking an Army Group of Cadians + Black Templar, built around Yarrick and his baneblade, The Fortress of Arrogance.
Okay enough typing for my first post... I await replies
