just played my first game. I'm gonna use this thread as an archive of lessons learned the hard way.
shooting into melee gives the enemy a big +defense bonus and if you miss you roll an attack against one of your models - not cool!
striking first usually means you kill what you're after - the game is weighted in favor of the aggressor
'jacks with arcnodes (spells can be channeled thru them) can run (move double their movement rate) and are still really dangerous! normally if you run you can't attack but an enemy warcaster can still channel spells thru a 'jack with arcnode that's run - watch out for these quick guys!
at the beginning of your turn, decide what your warcaster is going to do first. decide if he/she is going to cast a spell, if so, how much focus do you need for casting? factor in the extra focus you'll need to boost the attack and/or damage rolls if neccessary. after deciding this, begin your turn (maintenence phase where you assign focus to your warjacks). this may seem unneccessary, but if you spend 3 focus on an attack spell but don't have the 1 extra focus you need to get it to hit then you just wasted 3 focus!
