Hi, I was looking to build a new computer, but whilst looking on a computer part website I found a system package which has basically what I wanted, the package includes: Am2 dualcore 5200 CPU asus m2n sli Motherboard asus nvidia 8600GT 512mb graphics card 1gb pc3500 kingston 1gb ddr2 ram 250gb WD SATA 2 hardrive pioner 215d SATA DVD-RW floppy drive, gigabit Lan (whats gigabit lan-anyone?) asus ta 881 tower case, all for$630 and they just updated this cos I pmed cadian117 this aswell but the hard drive was 160gb before and the graphics card was 8500 not 8600 and for the main optional extra you can get a 19 inch viewsonic VA 1926W lcd screen for $242 (which I will get) so the total is $882 australian dollars, but the problem is postage to the other side of the country and speakers, mouse and keyboard lol. but tell me do you think I should get it, I mainly want it for some moderate gaming/schoolwork/internet browsing. and would it be able to play the contents of the orange box smoothly??? sorry about the long post, any help would be appreciated, thanks. and the website is www.cpl.net.auand if anyone knows where I could get some good priced, but still pretty good (not the old gay ones) speakers, keyboard and mouse in aus or worldwide lemme know thanks

sorry man, im not big on building computers.
you could try asking someone at a computer store?
well the only advice i can give is...if the components you put inside the computer fit your expectations for the computer....go for it.

its ok fuzziness,
and ferrante, im looking at this on cpl.net.au in their "green guide"
I think im going to get it but, would it be able to run under ubuntu linux?
my budget is about $900(not including postage and speaker/keyboard/mouse budget), this system costs $882 and to buy all theese hardware parts singularily cost more, and that wasnt even including the lcd screen.
so do you think it would be able to run most games smoothly? (im not saying on like ultra high settings)

yes with an 8500 or 8600 gt it would be able to run most games fairly well, except maybe the super computer hoggers ie. crysis and assasins creed. but I would look into buying more ram, your memory, because a computers speed is based on ram, and the more ram it has, the faster it can compute whats happening because of its ability to store things.I would check into how many ram slots your motherboard has because this will determine how much memory you can install. memory is plug and play so you will be able to do that yourself. also look into buying mouse, keyboard, and speakers at say an electronics store, or day I say it, evil evil wal-mart or something along those lines.

The only reason I didnt reply is becasue I thought you wanted price help and well frankly...I cant help you much in Aus. As far as the comp goes you look pretty good. My comp isnt as good as that and it will run oprnage box fine.

Fair enough cadian. I have also used windows all my life, but I am willing to give linux a shot because it requires some minor programming which I would like to learn. so pretty soon I will have a new computer!!!!! but, just curious, what do you guys usually upgrade first? (cpu/graphics card/ram etc)

Could some one PLEASE tell me what overclocking is supposed to be? It sounds like one of those things that advertisers use as an excuse as to why your $5 000 000 000 gaming PC dosn't work like it did in that add you saw >:/
